Everyone is wonderfully and beautifully made right? but then again we have those with the pretty faces, bodies, nice hair and nice everything and this pretty babe was in for a big surprise. When Stephy gave me the invites to the Charity ball last week, I asked myself how hard was it going to be? Sallie was going to be my plus one and she was over the moon.

"We have to ooze elegance Jo,"

And that is how I ended up wearing an emerald green mermaid gown with a thigh split while Sallie had on a floral straight dress that clung perfectly to her body. Malcom offered to pick us up for the event and I was glad to be arriving there with him.

"This is so bright," I whispered to Malcom as the reporter's cameras flashed at us at the red carpet.

"Just a few more seconds  and we will be inside."

I was so glad that that was over 'cause as much as I would like to show off this nice dress, my anxiety was about to start kicking in.

"My goodness! Laurea is that Jo?" Stephy asked.

"In the flesh sis, let us join them," Laurea said.

"OMG!  Jo it is them...it is them,"

"Sallie slow down who is them?"

I had to laugh at Sallie, she was practically ogling at Estephania and Laurea I had to pinch her back down to earth.

“Hello Stephy, hello Laurea, meet Sallie Rodriguez my best friend, Sallie meet Estephania and Laurea Montonegro my new friends."

“I'm a big fan of the both of you I truly love your work," Sallie said to them.

“Don't be so modest Sallie, a friend to Jo here is also our friend besides from all the stories she has given us about you, we already decided that we like you," Stephy said.

I looked around to find Malcom and I spotted him with the guys. Nicholas was there too and he had a blonde clutching to his side you'd think they were glued together.

“That's Kristen Hart, the on and off fling of Nicholas, you know sometimes I wonder why he wouldn't just make it official that he is dating her," Stephy said to me when she noticed I was looking in their direction.

I smiled,“my cousin wasn't wrong that one time when he called you a parrot."

“I am feeling offended right now Jossie."

“Don't worry, you can get back at me later."

The event went on smoothly and I excused myself saying that I needed some air. The night was cool and the sky was twinkling so filled with stars. I took a seat in the garden full of flowers and kept on admiring the starlit sky.

“So beautiful," I whispered giving in to a smile.

“That you are. Sometimes it becomes hard to tear my gaze away from you."

My gaze immediately swept the surrounding and found Nicholas standing by the garden entrance with his hands in his pockets and a soft smile on his face.

“Have you been following me?" I asked as I straightened my dress to cover up my exposed thighs.

“I came out for free space, it's so suffocating and congested in there."

I laughed at that and tore my gaze away from his. It had to be the cool breeze doing things to my body and not his piercing hazelnut eyes.

“You left your date, what if scavengers hover around her?"

“I think Miss Hart can take care of herself."

“So apart from showing up for parties, what else do you do? You can't be among the Connecticut billionaires with just that," I said to him

“Most girls would have done research about me already, I'm surprised I have to give you my portfolio face to face."

“Oh please! You are not the Prince of England."

Laughing,“well ever heard of The Wayne Hedge Fund Firm? It's my family business and I'm the C.E.O that's the work I do."

For those who might be wondering, a hedge fund is a pooled investment fund that trades in relatively liquid assets and is able to make extensive use of more complex trading, portfolio-construction and risk management techniques in an attempt to improve performance, such as short selling, leverage, and derivatives. A hedge fund's purpose is to maximize investor returns and eliminate risk.
They are generally considered to be more aggressive, risky, and exclusive.

“Woow! I am impressed."

“So it's safe to assume that I'm not dealing with a dimwit here, you've understood it all."

“I didn't just land into Yale like that you know, oh wait, are you one of those people that think I am there because my uncle is on the board?" I asked

“I am not that shallow-minded Jos, give me some credit at least, I remember attending your senior high graduation ceremony and just like your family members I was very happy for you."

I recalled seeing Malcom with a friend at my party  but I didn't bother much I had other things to be excited about.

“Thank you," I said

There was a moment of silence and before it got arkward Kristen Hart decided it was time for us to break whatever we were doing.

“Darling, I've been looking all over for you and who is this?" she said.

“Jossie Salvatore," I answered her.

Nicholas' face questioned my answer but I just gave them both a smile and excused myself.

“Jo, where have you been? You've missed entirely everything you know," Sallie said to me as I approached her.

“Fresh air, remember? Where is Malcom? I think I want to go home now my feet are killing me," I said.

“Actually that was the reason I was looking for you, he is waiting for us at the lobby,"

“Jo you disappeared then Nicholas disappeared too, where did you both go off to?" Sam, Stephy and Laurea's older brother asked.

“Why does this feel like junior prom all over again?" I asked.

“Chaperon and all, Sam get off your high horse," Laurea said.

We all laughed at that.

“Stephy, thank you once again for inviting as over , we had a great time." Sallie said.

“Guys you are still here...," Kristen called out to us.

That was my cue to leave. I grabbed Sallie's hand and pulled her to Malcolm's car that had been driven to the front door by the Valet.

“Goodnight."

It looked like I was running away but I didn't run away from anything or anyone, I just wanted to  leave the place and get home because all good times and things have to come to an end at some point you know. Tonight was actually nice. Interacting with people from the high-end society, people we just see on magazines and TV and yes it was a big weekend distraction before Monday sets in.

“Jo," Sallie called out.

“Yes,"

“You are not crushing on Mr Wayne are you?"

“I really wish I was."
