Drowsy.
That was what I felt when I opened my eyes, my hand immediately rose to hold my head. It felt like a herd of elk were stampeding on my brain.
Memories of what happened flashed through my mind.
"Mina!" I yelled out, looking around to see if she was near me.
I was in my room.
"Calm down," I saw gramps under the doorway to my bedroom, "Momo said she's going to be fine. You're also going to be okay."
I jumped off the bed, "I want to see Mina."
"I think you should stay in bed-" He tried.
"No. I want to see Mina," I repeated thoroughly.
He sighed at my stubbornness, "Okay. She's in her room. Go on."
I immediately left my room and walked over to the neighboring door. I let out a deep breath and gently opened the closed door.
The door creaked as I opened it slowly. She didn't even move because of the sound.
Gramps was beside me, "She hasn't woken up yet."
I stared at him, communicating with my eyes. Gramps nodded his head and gently closed the door behind me. Now it was just Mina and I.
I saw a stool next to her bed and sat down, glancing at her figure. Her lip was split and dried blood was on it. It must've gotten struck by wood when the chest exploded. Other than that, she had a little cut on her cheek.
"I should've been quicker," I muttered, frowning, "I'm sorry, Mina."
Silence.
It's ironic how silence can be so loud.
"I knew something was wrong, I should've spoken up sooner. Now you're knocked out and haven't woken up yet," I fiddled with my fingers.
I waited for her to do anything. To shift, to open her eyes, maybe even twitch one finger but she didn't do anything.
The only reason why I could she was alive was because she was breathing. And let me tell you, it was so unsettling.
"Please wake up, Minari," I softly begged, "Please?"
Nothing.
I am not leaving until she wakes up.
"I'll be here when you wake up. I promise," I whispered and leaned my head against the wall, closing my eyes to relax. I adjusted the stool so I was more comfortable.
I heard the door open but didn't bother opening my eyes. Soft footsteps made their way over to me. I felt something warm wrap around me.
It was definitely a blanket.
"I already know you're blaming yourself for this," I heard Jihyo utter, she softly ran her fingers through my hair, "Don't. None of us knew that was going to happen. Sleep well."
She left, leaving me to ponder about what she said.
I felt tears stream down my face.
I know that it wasn't my fault but I had a chance of stopping it before it could happen. Why wasn't I fast enough?
. . .
I heard a little groan of discomfort and woke up.
I quickly turned to look at Mina. She shifted slowly and opened her eyes. I grinned happily and excitedly stood up, "You're up."
