au: you see him every night you go to sleep and the feelings are real but is he?

—————————————————

You awoke once again, but not in your bed. You returned to the place that had haunted your nights and followed you throughout the day. This weird playground place. Every time you woke up, you were on the top of the play set - that weird steel place with holes, at the top of all the attractions. There was nothing really scary about this place - it was dim as if it were dusk or just a little bit later then that.

The street lights were on which added a calming yet eerie feeling to this place. But the atmosphere wasn't what haunted your mind. It was him. The man who you woke up next to every time you found yourself in this place. He was always there, laying next to you when you rose up from your spot.

Who was he? Why was he here? Always here.

It took him a bit but soon he arose as well, his eyes fluttering open to meet yours. His hazel eyes were so mesmerizing, you never figured out why but without even knowing who this guy was, you had fallen for him. The two of you talked every night, every night the stars had brought you together but you knew what he was - he was just a figment of your imagination and nothing more than your lonely heart longing for a connection.

But something about him always felt so real and loving. He talked to you about his life and what was going on with him. He always asked you about your life and was always ready to hear your stories. He was by far one of the funniest people you had ever met, always able to crack a joke at the perfect moment and make a memory that much better. He was cute and easy to talk to. He was always in your head.

Literally.

"Hey sleeping beauty." You joked with a smile as he began to gain consciousness.

"Hey beast." He threw back, rubbing his eyes and stretching his arms out wide in a stretch.

"Wrong movie, but good try."

He just smiled in return, sitting with his legs crossed in front of you. "So we are back here again."

"Yep, once again my mind torments me with my biggest desires." You sighed, leaning your head back against the metal bars of the playset.

Why did this have to happen every night. Why couldn't I just be normal.

"It is a dream so, you know." He added, scratching the back of his neck. The tension between the two of you was bigger then it had ever been. Even though you knew he wasn't real, you couldn't help but be wary of your words and still feel awkward when you slipped up or said something out of place.

"I wish it wasn't." You confessed, if this is just a dream why should anything I say matter.

"Yeah me too." He said which caused the two of you to look up at the other. The two of you held eye contact, a mutual feeling surging through each of you.

Feeling... he doesn't have feelings y/n, he's not real.

"I hate it here..." You mumbled laying your head in your hands, you could feel your throat begin to sting and your eyes begging to spill tears. This day had already not been the best and you just had to be thrown into your eternal love prison.

"What's your name?" He asked randomly, his words cleared your mind instantly as you looked up to face him. Names... you had never shared your name and he had never shared his. One of the first things you tell anyone you meet, a basic formality of humankind and neither of you had ever brought it up.
