The next morning *your pov*

Only if this stupid alarm clock would stop its blaring I would be able to contemplate my surprisingly unawful morning. I took a moment to enjoy my aromatic Dutch coffee and the bleak golden sunrise. I'm not a high school student anymore. HOLY SHIIIT- IM NOT A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ANYMORE!!! For a short while, I felt proud of myself, for the first time in forever I DIDN'T feel like an absolute failure. It feels awesome to know that you're going to go places in the next chapter of your life but with all the exhilaration and joy came the slightest bit of misery and regret. I'm leaving my home and my friends after this summer. i snapped out of pretty quickly and remembered that I'm supposed to go to Ella's for girls' night, I mean we had to enjoy each other's physical presence while we still can.

*at Ella's house*

I stepped out of my car and made my way to the door, usually I just walk in but the door was locked today so I just rang the doorbell and listened to the echo of the ring while waiting for someone to open the door. It slowly creaked open and strange enough it wasn't El, it was her older brother......Joshua who also happens to be my ex-boyfriend in case I forgot to mention.

Josh: y/n, hey long time no see

y/n: definitely, I didn't expect you to be back from college so soon

Josh: we have half-term break so I thought I'd come home for a while, why don't you come in

I stepped in and as usual ran up to Ella's room, she wasn't there though so I called her

*on the phone with Ella*

y/n: hey El

Ella: hey

y/n: im at your place, where are you?

Ella: just went to get a few things from target, will be there soon

y/n: alright I'll just wait for you then

Ella: bye love ya

y/n: right back at ya

*hangs up*

i walked back down the spiral staircase, just when I made it to the bottom I rolled my ankle and almost fell yet I felt someone's arms gently wrap around me preventing the fall, I looked slowly looked up to see Josh's face. I felt....weird, it was hard to explain what I felt which then led me to loosen his grip and I made my way to the couch.

I sat there scrolling on Instagram when I saw Josh come and join. The awkward silence was mutual, in some sort of way it made me feel uncomfortable.

Josh: so university of Melbourne huh?

y/n: yup, Melbourne

Josh: that's cool, I'm happy for you, really

y/n: thanks Joshua

he hated being called by his full name, it annoyed him I found it kinda cute though

Josh: don't ever call me that again

y/n: why not? It suits you

Josh: I don't like it, it sounds weird

y/n: oh well

for the next hour or so we just sat there laughing at videos of us when we were children, and I just thought to myself "Woah time really did fly by so fast"

A/N: sorry for taking too long to update this i have terrible time management skills im trying to get better at it, i might try to update once a week, no promises thought, anyways thank you for reading, have a good day :)
