"Please introduce yourself." "I'm y/n l/n. Pleased to meet you all. I hope we can all get along." Hyakkaou Academy. It's said that here nothing matters but how well you gamble. I've gambled with my uncle ever since I was five. I wouldn't say I'm the best gambler but, I know quite a lot, and I have a bit of money stored away. Still, even knowing everything I know, I'm scared. Everyone here is most likely phenomenally better than me. I'll try my best, though.
Time skip
Finally, lunch, I've been waiting forever. "Hi, you're new here, right? My name is Mary Saotome!" "Hi, I'm y/n l/n." "Would you like to gamble with me" "Sure!" Mary brought me to a secluded room filled with students. "We will be playing rock-paper-scissors, but a modified version. Instead of our hands, we'll be using cards. The rules are all the same. Rock beats scissors, paper beats rock, and scissors beat paper. Everyone in this room will draw a symbol that stands for either rock, paper, or scissors. We'll pull the cards out of this box and then place a bet. After we've both placed our bets, we'll throw out a card. The winner gets the money." "Okay, I think I get it." "Since it's your first day, I'll let you borrow some money from me." "Thank you." "Now, let's start."
Mary gave me 50 chips worth $700,000 each. Everyone in the room went and drew symbols on the cards handed to them. We each picked three cards from the box. I have two scissors and one rock. "Well, what's your bet?" "I think I'll put down just two chips. Just so I can get the hang of it." "Alright, then I'll put out two as well. Okay, on three. One, two, three!" I pulled out one of my scissors, and Mary pulled a paper. "I won!" "You did. So now you take my chips." Hmm, something seems off. I can't tell what, though.
Everyone went back and drew symbols down on cards again. Mary and I picked three cards each. I got two papers and one scissors. "Alright, what's your bet?" "Hmm, let's go with 25 chips." "Wow, that's a big bet! Don't get too cocky now. It might just come back and bite you." I can tell just by her smirk that she's definitely cheating, but how? "One, two, three!" I pulled another scissors, and Mary pulled a rock. "I win! Guess I just got lucky, hehe!" You didn't get lucky. You're cheating. "Heh, I guess so!"
Once again, everyone drew symbols on the cards, and Mary and I picked three. All rocks. "So, what's your bet?" "I'll go with two chips again." "Safe move. I mean, you did just lose about 17 million dollars." Wipe that smile off your face. I know what you're doing. "One, two, three!" Mary pulled scissors. "You won! Hehe, you can't win them all, right?" "Yea."
"Alright, now what's your next bet?" "I'll do 27 chips again." "Seriously? That's the last of your money. Are you sure you want to do that?" "Yes." "Let's hope you don't come to regret that decision." Bitch. "One, two, three!" I pulled paper, but Mary had scissors. "Wow! I won again! It looks like you owe me 35 million dollars."
"Um, Mary, can we play again?" "Do you have money? I can't just keep lending it to you." I went into my bag and pulled out a million dollars in cash. "Well, I guess we can play again. Puppy, give everyone new cards to draw on, please." Hmph, I've already figured out your game. You probably think you've won this. "So what will your bet be?" "I'm going all in." "Well, I guess I should too then." "One...Two...Th-"
"Did you think I wouldn't notice? Almost everyone in this room is working with you. Honestly, it's pitiful. To be so insecure about your own gambling skills that you must cheat." "I-, SHUT THE FUCK UP! What are you talking about?! You lost because of chance, not because I cheated! Don't be a sore loser."
"The boy right behind me. He's the one sending the signals. Usually, the crowd would be focused on the gamblers. I noticed everyone's eyes were directed behind me rather than on us. You should be ashamed of the way you play. Now, let's get on with this." Aah, yes. That look, pure anger. I can feel the rage seeping out of your body. It's getting me excited, hehe.
"One...Two...Three!" "WHAT?! How? How the fuck did I lose?!" I pulled rock, and Mary pulled scissors. "You don't win them all, right? Hehe. Now, when can you pay me. You can pay me, right?" "I-I don't have the money." "Huh? Can you say that bit louder?" Mary shot up and slammed her hands on the table. "I SAID I CAN'T PAY IT, OKAY!" I stood up and walked to Mary. I stood behind her, pushed her hair away from her ear, and whispered. "That's a shame." I walked back over to my seat.
"Well, if you can't pay it. I have another way you can pay." "What do you mean?" I reached into my bag and pulled out a knife. "Stab yourself." "WHAT?! What do you mean stab myself? I-, What?" "I mean exactly that, hehe. Come on, you only have to stab your hand. You don't even have to stab your dominant one." Haah, I'm getting too excited. I don't know if I can hold back much longer. I shot up and put one leg on the table.
"COME ON, MARY. JUST ONE LITTLE STAB. RIGHT THROUGH YOUR HAND!" I started panting harder and harder. Adrenaline dances through my veins and tickles my face. Mary slowly backed away and fell to the floor. "Y- YOU'RE CRAZY! STAY AWAY FROM ME! GETAWAY!" I walked over and sat on her lap.
"Come on, Mary. If you're scared, I can do it for you! Just one...little...stab." Mary fell on her back and began to cry. "I- I can't. I can't." Tears poured down her face. As much as I love seeing someone cry, I really wanted to see some bloodshed. I gazed over her tears soaked face and then stood up."Tch, you're no fun." I grabbed my things, and walked to the door. Before leaving, I turned and said, "Get me my money."
