Chapter 7 : Coffeehouse
"But, seongsasengnim! We just started this unit two days ago!"
"Why is there ten pages?"
Luhan leaned over to see the packet, since he didn't understand what the other students were groaning about.
"Yah, yah..." He started, his eyes widening as well when he saw the first few questions,"This is too cruel..."
"You don't have to do this packet. However, the group that is done with the packet the soonest, gets a big bonus at their finals."
Seorin stopped fumbling with the packet, and turned to face Luhan's shocked experssioned,"We're doomed."
Mr. Kang may be a fun teacher, but sometimes his jokes aren't too funny.
"How about we go to my house for the packet? My eomma usually doesn't mind if it's for school." Seorin asked, looking up at Luhan. "Ah... Let's go somewhere else instead..." He reached for the water bottle on the side of his bookbag, holding onto two hardcover books with the other. He held the water bottle to his mouth.
"To your house?" Luhan almost choked on the water,"N-No! I-I mean, let's go to a c-coffeehouse instead..." They began walking out of the school, into the courtyard. "Sure, I know of a coffeehouse chain that I really like." Seorin assured,"I'll take you here after I call Mr. Ahn."
"Ah, yes...No, Mr. Ahn...before 7:00PM?...Okay...Goodbye." She hanged up on Mr. Ahn, Luhan followed her out of the school courtyard.

Luhan opened one of the double glass doors that lead to the inside of the cafe. Once he opened it, cold air a little bit colder than the current autumn air blew out. Seorin went in after him.
"Wow, it's the perfect temperature..." Seorin mumbled, glancing at the big air conditioner machine next to the glass entrance,"20 degrees Celsius." "Taebaek..." Luhan mumbled as well, fixing the tie of his school uniform,"You like 20 degrees too?"
"Welcome to Café Beńe! Are you Oh Seorin?" A female employee standing behind a counter said, after Seorin walked in. "Yes...why?" She responded. Aiish Mr. Ahn. You better not have- "Someone by the name of Ahn Junmin has reserved this whole cafe for Oh Seorin and someone else for two hours." How did he... "You can sit at any table you would like." The female employee said.
After they got their things, they sat down at a table.
"Ta-Da!" Luhan pulled out Mongjin- I mean, Seorin's pencil out of his case from his bookbag,"I kept Mongjin nice and safe here." "Whatever," Seorin muttered, digging into her bookbag for her green llama pencil-case.
"Today is one of the rare days that my English tutor is taking a break. So, let's try to get as much done today." Seorin said, setting her pencil-case on the table. "Fighting." "Fighting."
...
20 minutes later, they were still on the second question. "Google won't show me how it's done..." Seorin mumbled, tapping away at her Samsung phone. "Let me see that." Luhan snatched it away from her hands, and slid the packet to her. "Cheu."
"There is an article here, but it's written in Japanese..." Luhan said,"Aiish."
"Use google translate then." Seorin replied, finishing the rest of her cake.
"Ah, but the article is so long..."
"Just-" Seorin reached her arm, but knocked Luhan's mug over at the process. The mug was half filled, and the liquid started spilling out, a male waiter hurrying to their table. The waiter used a napkin to wipe it up before it got into the packet.
"Thank you adjussi." Luhan said happily. "It's no problem. Wait, let me see that packet... It looks familiar." The waiter suddenly said, Seorin scooted the packet over to him.
"Ah! My son had this over a year ago when he was in grade 10. I helped him with it, since I am a math teacher, and working here is my part time job." He exclaimed, as Seorin and Luhan glanced hopeful looks. "Y-You mean, you know how to do this?" Luhan said.
"You need help? Alright." He replied, setting the napkin down.
...
Tommorrow morning. Mr. Kang's class.
The look on Mr. Kang's face was indescribable when Seorin sat the whole completed packet on his desk.
"Y-You can't be finished with the whole packet, right?" He looked up from the packet.
"Wae? They finished?"
"Dabaek..."
The whole class was amazed, but then one student spoke up,"They just wrote down random answers. There is no way they could finish in just one day." A bunch of agreeing mumbles came after.
"Check it, seongsasengnim." Luhan said confidently.
Mr. Kang flipped through the whole packet, after he finished, he looked up at Seorin and Luhan with awe in his face.
"That says it! They got it all right!"
"Wow..."
At lunch that day, Seorin sat next to Luhan. Seoyeon sat in front of her.
"Your kidding right?" Seoyeon exclaimed, after hearing the news.
"Nope." Luhan said, picking up some kimchi off his metal tray. "Dabaek..."
Seoyeon said,"But how?"
"Aigoo, this is the hundredth time someone asked us that." Luhan began,"Couldn't the students of Chankwon Highschool be more creative?"
"Tch," Seoyeon scooped in a spoonful of rice into her mouth as Seorin spoke up,"It was pure luck, I'm pretty sure we struck gold when we went to Café Beńe."
"I can't wait to learn this unit, nothing in that packet makes sense." Seoyeon mumbled. "Believe me, the way to solve it will make you want to slap yourself on the forehead." Seorin said.
"I hope not."
