I felt my blood boiling as Johnny came and sat down next to me. Of course, due to assigned seating, the teachers made sure to put us near people we don't interact with. I hated Johnny more than anything. He's the arrogant guy, who thinks he can make a girl fall in love with him just by tapping their shoulder. He'd tried it on me, but luckily my friends swooped in and shooed him away. Now my friends were on the other side of the classroom, while I was stuck with the devil himself. "For this semester, your lab partner will be the person next to you" I looked to my left, only to sadly see no one, meaning I was stuck with the person to my right. Johnny.
"Looks like we're gonna have some chemistry" he winked. I shot him a look, what a stupid joke.2 weeks later
"Your first project of the semester is to come up with a formula for a sparkler, we will have a competition next week to see who has the best one" our teacher announced and passed out a "basic" recipe for sparklers. Basically, we had to experiment with the number of chemicals to create a kick-ass firework. Sounds easy right? Definitely not easy."Maybe we should add more charcoal," Johnny said. We were working at his house in the living room next to the fireplace so we would have a place to test what we made. We were actually
Civil, and so far we were getting along. I added .1 of a gram of charcoal and we poured the mixture into the fireplace and tested it. It set off and worked amazingly, and looked spectacular.
"We did it!" Johnny excitedly shouted. I laughed as he hugged me. He suddenly let go when he realized that I was the girl who had turned him down one time.
"Sorry I was just excited" he explained. I shrugged, letting it go. "Friends?" He stuck out his hand. "Friends" I shook his hand.
"I should get going, I'll see you at school" I grabbed my stuff and headed towards the front door. He unlocked it and let me out, brushing my hand lightly. I felt tingles, which was weird. I was about to go down the steps from the porch when he called my name. "Yeah?" I turned around and walked back to the door.
"See the thing is," he paused and struggled the find the right words. Then, he did the unexpected, and bent down and kissed me. I stood, frozen. "I don't want to be friends, I want to be more than friends"
