"Nope, I have no clue what is going on here." Thomas chuckled. Dove seemed disappointed but somewhat relieved, meeting whoever was in charge somehow seemed worse. At least they weren't alone.

"So when you arrived... wherever the hell we are, where did you end up?" Thomas asked, breaking the uncomfortable silence that Dove was too distracted to notice. "The beach. It's not the worst place to end up, but it's winter, it's fucking freezing out there." Dove replied, chuckling a bit. "What about you? Where did you arrive-" They asked, but turned around when they saw Ayana walk up to them.

"Hi, what's your name?" Ayana greeted them, with a friendly smile that she had learned from her new job in retail. "I'm Dove. They/Them pronouns, please."
"And I'm Thomas. He/They."
"Cool! I'm Ayana. She/Her. Where are you guys from?"
"Britain."
"America!"
"I'm American too, but I'm originally from India. So, two Americans and one British person. Is there anyone here from another country?"
"I don't know, I haven't talked to anyone else here," said Dove "But we might as well get to know everyone else here, there doesn't really look like we're finding a way out soon."
"Yeah, I'm gonna go and say hi to the people over there, wanna come with me?" Ayana, gesturing to a group of people to her right, asked and the other two people nodded.

"Hi, what's your name?" Ayana asked, walking over to the other side of the hall. The woman she approached flinched, "I'm Layla, what's your name?" she stuttered. "I'm Ayana." As Dove and Thomas introduced themselves to Layla, Ayana smiled and turned to the other ones on that side of the room. "I'm James. I use He/Him pronouns." Ayana recognised his voice as the one that answered the phone earlier but didn't ask him about it. Instead, she awkwardly shook his hand. "And I'm Abigail. She/Her."
"I'm Ayana. She/Her."

"Jordan, people seem to be going over there. We should probably join in." Jordan looked over her shoulder, and sure enough, a group of people were gathering in a corner of the room. "Yeah, we might as well. The only person I've talked to here is you. It would probably be good if we introduced ourselves to some of the others." Jordan backed up Lana's point, and the pair started walking over to the small group that was forming. They walked over, Jordan and Jordan both strutted over confidently. They matched each other's energy nicely.

"Hi, I'm Jordan." She introduced herself to the stranger. "I'm Dove. I use they/them pronouns."
"I use she/her pronouns. Is there any food somewhere near here? No one here's eaten all-"
"I know where there's food, but I'm not sure if I trust it." Abigail interrupted, "Sorry, I couldn't help but overhear. I'm Abigail." She smiled and Jordan gave a polite smile back that was somehow still terrifying.
"Where's the food?"
"There's a market, a bit away from here. Not sure if it's safe though, and we were asked to meet here, for no reason, apparently. Some of us were thinking about exploring the town hall now, wanna come?"
"No thanks, I think I'm going to try to get food instead," Jordan stepped away, "Hey, Lana, wanna come see if there's food?" She called out to the growing crowd of people and another voice replied, "Hell yeah!".

"So, do you have a partner or something?" Lana asked Jordan. "Yeah. I have a girlfriend, they're called Elsie. I'm trying to get out of here so I get to see her again," They took a right turn, only for it to lead back to the hall they'd just left. "Jesus Christ, this place is a maze," Jordan grumbled. "Do you think whoever's doing this is enjoying it? Is this a game or some shit to them?" Lana asked, her boots making hushed thumps against the red carpet. "I don't know, Lana. I have as much information as you do, and right now, I'm just trying to get some food so we don't all die."
"Hm, not dying seems like a good thing to do right now."
"Yeah," Jordan gasped, looking to her left, "Holy shit, Lana, there's the front door!" The two excitedly ran over to the door and Lana pulled on the handle. "Is it locked-" An automated voice interrupted her, "Lana Visser and Jordan Taylor, please step away from the door. If you leave this building, you will be exterminated." The trackers on their ankles started beeping as the robotic voice repeated his message, getting more urgent each time. Lana and Jordan ran from it as fast as they could, adrenaline rushing through their veins.

"Hey, what's up-" Abigail said, seeing Lana and Jordan running towards her in a panic. Lana took a moment to get her breath back before saying, "We're trapped. We literally can't escape. There's some sort of programme that will kill us if we leave the building."
"Shit."
"Abigail, are we still going to explore?" asked someone with long purple hair and a nose ring.
"Lana, Jordan, this is Leslie." Leslie shook their hands, telling each of them "She/He/They pronouns!"
"Leslie, I think we'll have to. I'm not sure, though. Let's ask everyone else. Are you two still out?" She asked, facing Lana and Jordan, who both nodded their heads.

"Okay, guys!" Abigail began, "Lana and Jordan have discovered that we can't leave this building, there's booby-traps outside. Now that we know whoever has us in here could be prepared to kill us, does anyone want to bail out of exploring? We won't shame you if you did, Lana and Jordan are staying, so you can get to know them." Leslie raised her hand, "Is it okay if I don't come with you?"
"Of course it is, Leslie. Anyone else?" No one else raised their hand, so everyone soon left the main hall to explore the rest of the building.

"So, let's all try our best not to die today!" James remarked, only half-joking. Chloe chuckled, only half-faking it. "Oh, hey. I don't think we've met. I'm James."
"Hi. I'm Chloe."
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Chlo." Chloe usually would've hated that nickname, but she wanted James to like her.

Eric fidgeted with his hands, he was honestly scared of whatever they might find - or not find - in the other rooms. "Hey, what's up with you?" Eric flinched, before seeing it was Ayana. "Oh, hi Ayana. You scared me there."
"Sorry! You just seemed worried about something, so I wanted to make sure you're okay."

"Are we gonna get jump-scared here or some shit?" Char asked Blu, holding a torch. "Maybe. Who's to say?" They ran towards the other's, since they were falling a bit behind, as some of the youngest in the group.
