"WHAT AM I GONNA SAY WHEN HE CALLS ON ME..."
I walked into the cafeteria with Gavin by my side. I had a tray of food in my hands. I watched the students around the room mingling and talking before their heads turned to look at me. Silence falls. Oh, boy. I stood there uncomfortably before Gavin clears his throat. I sighed before walking over to an empty table and sitting down. Gavin sat next me.
"Great, they're terrified of me." I commented. "Can you really blame 'em? You were floating in the sky like a god, you died and then brought yourself back to life, which is, it goes without saying, a paradox. The word that keeps coming up is miracles." Gavin said, looking at me.
I tapped my fingers against my thigh. "I've done some of these miracles before, though. When I was little girl I brought small animals back to life like birds, or frogs. But, that was it. Now, I can heal people from blindness without a spell. Even without a sacrifice." I spoke in thought. Gavin shakes his head slightly.
"That's not how our witchcraft works. There's always an incantation." He said. "Maybe I'm not using witchcraft... maybe it's something else. I mean we still don't know what I am." I said. He hummed.
"But... maybe something or someone gave me these gifts so I can make the world a better place for mankind. That could be why Sabrina's father's vision for the future of the Church of Night hinged on the union between witches and mortals. What if I'm that binding?" I said with a smile. Gavin chuckled a bit. "Well, be careful. The Council won't like being challenged by a 16-year-old girl. On the contrary, they'll silence you." Gavin spoke.
"They can try. The only problem is, I don't know exactly know how to go about spreading the word." I spoke. I suddenly see Melvin and another girl walk up to our table. My head turned. "Hi. Can we join you?" He asked in a polite tone. Well, this was a surprise.
"Melvin. Elspeth. Of course." I spoke before the both of them sat across from us. "So, were you guys talking about?" Elspeth asked. I looked over at Gavin with a grin. This was my chance.
"Sabrina's father's teachings." I began.

All of the students gathered around me and Sabrina who also decided to spread his word. I sat on top of the lunch table while the students stood before me. "Before he died, Sabrina's father was in the process of reforming the Church of Night. One of his key tenets was that witches should, uh... mingle with mortals." I spoke, which made the students murmur amongst themselves. "That it was their sacred prerogative to do so." Sabrina added.
"But that goes against everything Father Blackwood has ever taught us." Elspeth said. I scoffed. "Father Blackwood would have us go down a path of isolationism, intolerance, and xenophobia. I believe our future and survival rely on the union of witch-kind and mortal-kind." I said with a smile. I suddenly saw the Weird Sisters walking into the room. I mentally rolled my eyes.
"Well, what do we have here? Are you proselytizing now, Mary? Seems familiar." She commented. I hummed. "Just chatting, Prudence. Would you care to join us?" I tilted my head.
"The rubbish you're espousing isn't even possible, Mary. Together with mortals? Mortals fear, hate, or... simply don't believe in witches. And you expect us to just be with them." Prudence said, crossing her arms. "Sabrina's parents came together, didn't they? If we come together as one we can do miraculous things. We can promote peace, Prudence. But I know better than to try and convince you with words, but I wish you could imagine another way." I spoke. Prudence chuckled. I saw Sabrina pick up her cup of grape juice.
