Her mind was filled with dread and sorrow. She couldn't help but think of her friends and her neighborhood, now that she has come to a distant, far away fairytale. It all happened so quickly, she couldn't bring herself to think about it.

In a way, she thinks to herself that this might be a good decision. She would  experience a different life, a more enjoyable one and far from her toxic family, her toxic friends. She tries to maintain her hopes up, she needs to. She can't start the year with such sorrow and neglect. She will have to try, for the better or for the worst.

It is in times like these of confusion and debating with her conscience that she thinks of her father. He was an amazing man. He was the only family she ever had. He used to care for her, support her and stand up for her while her mom was against her. He used to carry Lavender to the zoos, the museums and the parks. He was like the stem that supported his flower. And when the stem dies, the flower dies too.

She awakens with a sudden jolt at the knock on her door. Quickly brushing of the tears from her face, she got up and opened the door, anticipating that she might see a new countenance, only to be met with the same lady from the reception desk.

The lady was dressed in a simple and yet elegant style. She had her hair up in a bun with a few strands of thin hair falling at the sides of her temples. Her thin lips turned up in a sweet and genuine smile. The beauty of the lady in front of Lavender, made her feel easy and good. She also returned a smile, but nowhere near authentic.

"Miss Lavender, Have you started unpacking your luggage? Your mom have just left with the message to check on you occasionally. If you need any help, you can find me at the reception or you can just call me from the telephone outside your room.", she said in a very soft voice, maybe she understood that Lav was crying.

"Thank you Maa'm. I am fine for now, I will start with the unpacking right away.."

"Take you time, The students will be filling in soon. You came rather much earlier than expected, so we couldn't keep things ready, and...--", The lady stopped suddenly, arguing whether she should ask Lavender or not.

"yes...?"

"Miss, We have an extra student this year, and your mother has requested especially that you are not to share your dorm with anyone else and -"

"It is ok, I will be more than happy to have someone else to share the room with." Lavender interrupted, giving the lady an assuring smile.

"but.... We are really sorry Lavender, This year every dorm is packed and your room was the only spot left to accommodate one more student, we really don't have other choice."

"It is ok", she nodded. "And sorry, Maa'm, What is your name?"

"Oh, You can call me Ellie, and Thank you Lavender once again, Thank you very much."

"No probs"

Miss Ellie turned and shut the door behind her.  Lavender could hear the chattering of the students now, slowly entering her ears and filling her with a sense of belonging. Excitement and Anticipation showed on her defined features. She sat back on her bed, this time feeling thrilled. She would have a dorm partner and that was more that anything she could ask for in her lonely and isolated room.

Her spirits suddenly awakened, maybe it was the sounds of distinct talking among the students outside or Miss Ellis's beautiful aura. She felt like a caterpillar, excitedly waiting to bat her butterfly wings. Or it must be destiny, maybe her new dorm partner would be a blessing to her tossing soul.

She decided to start unpacking, It was really rare for her to be hit with a wave of motivation and so she didn't let this chance slip, otherwise it would be like a wall sprayer running from his art with the police chasing him. Only, here the police is her disturbed mind and the art, her newfound motivation.

It didn't take too long. All her clothing was set in the wardrobe and within an hour, she started decorating her dorm. She really had a strange feeling of nostalgia and love for vintage articles. She believed she was an old soul, an old soul desperately searching for her lover.
