The twins had arrived in Santa Barbara and had found Abby's beached sailboat. Ellie had narrowed down their search for her at an address - 2425 Constance. The twins had set off towards their destination and had encountered a handful of infected, especially a few bloaters. As they stopped to look out at the view, Dylan began to question Ellie.

"She's gotta be down there somewhere. I just hope a runner or clicker hasn't got to her yet." Ellie said as she jotted something down in her journal.
"So, what are you gonna do? If we find Abby, that is?" Dylan asked as Ellie placed her journal back in her bag and they began to head down to the street.
"Stupid question, D. I'm gonna kill her." Ellie replied.
Dylan shook his head and looked to Ellie.
"And what is that gonna prove? Is that gonna bring back Joel or Jesse?" Dylan asked.
Ellie stopped and looked to Dylan with a frustrated expression.
"If you didn't want to do this, why did you come?" Ellie asked.
"To protect you because Dina asked me to. I have never turned my back on you before and even though I should have this time...I couldn't. The thought of losing you, the pain it would have caused me if you died out here alone...I couldn't let you do this on your own." Dylan replied.
"Then stop bitching to me about killing Abby and just do as I ask." Ellie insisted.
Dylan shook his head as Ellie continued on her way. Dylan followed Ellie as she squeezed between two vans. As they reached the other side, the two were suddenly hoisted up into the air, losing their gear. The two swung around a bit and were soon slammed into a tree, broken branches impaling the two of them, as a clicker swung beside them. After a while, the twins passed out due to blood loss, but not before Dylan took Ellie's hand, holding onto his sister for dear life.

A while later, two guys approached the twins. The twins eyelids began to flutter open and Ellie was cut down, landing on the floor with a thud.
