I rub the sleep out of my eyes, as I make my way downstairs to the kitchen.
"Good morning princess. What were you doing so late up last night? On the phone with Stefanie were you?" dad asks as he gives me a kiss on the top of the head.
I wish.
A yawn escapes my mouth, "Is aunt Davina back from her witch meeting in Mystic Falls?"
"Well from the phone call I had with uncle Kol I doubt it. I heard your cousin screaming his name to help her and he hung up. Man do I not miss those days of my little girl bossy me around. Daddy get me this...daddy make me this..."
"I do not sound like that. And I wasn't that bossy." I head towards the cupboard to grab a bowl.
I open the cupboard to see that my favorite bowl is on the top...damn Marcel.
"Dad..." I look back at him.
He starts to laugh and hands me my light blue bowl.
"Maybe I do miss it. So why do you need your aunt Davina?"
As the honeynut Cheerios hit white bowl, I contemplate on telling my dad the truth.
"Hey!" I turn to my dad who pops a cherrio into his mouth. "I thought you didn't like human food?"
"These aren't so bad." Dad takes the cereal bag and shakes a handful of cereal into his hand. "So this problem you need your aunt Davina is a school thing or...umm a girl thing?"
After all these years with raising two girls and having two sisters, dad still gets uncomfortable about girl "things". Maybe that's just what all dads do.
"If it's a school thing I can help. But if it's the other option unfortunately I'm not your mother, but she will be back soon... I think."
Last night mom told me Lizzie needed her for an emergency...a fashion emergency obviously.
"I just hope she brings back peanut butter m&m from the M&Ms store!"
I bring a spoonful of my cereal into my mouth as I think back to the first time I stepped into the M&Ms store in Times Square. Rows and rows of M&Ms were lined up on the wall and for a seven year old chocoholic, it was a dream come true.
"I still remember how big your big blue eyes got when we walked in. You didn't want to share any of your 5 bags of chocolate with anyone including Hope who you always share things with." A smile spreads across my dad's face.
I turn back to my bowl and munch on my cereals as guilt starts to creep up. Why did I waste my night searching for a maybe birth father who apparently died a whole year before I was born when I have the best dad in the world?
"Good morning everyone!" Aunt Freya walks in announcing her presence.
I smile at my aunt before staring back down at my now half filled bowl. I quickly finish my cereal and walk over to the sink. I wash my bowl and spoon. The faster I get out of this room the less guilty I will feel.
"Love why don't you ask your aunt Freya for help with whatever you needed you aunt Davina's help for? She's a witch and a girl. And I unfortunately have to go, I have a meeting with the vampires in 5 minutes."
Dad walks out the room leaving me with my aunt. I stare down at my chipped pink toe nails.
"What do you need help with Luna?"
I look up at my aunt.
Should I tell her? Both guilt and curiosity course through me. In the end curiosity takes over.
"I need help with a spell."
***
I stand over my grandmothers spellbook and recite the spell in my head;
Et vélum inter mortalis spiritus intelligunt de mundi. Quaro quis revoca
"Can I know why you want to summon the dead? I may not be a teacher at the Salvatore school of gifted kids, but I don't think any teacher would want any student to learn this spell. If used to often it can goes the witch to turn to black magic." Aunt Freya walks up to her brown desk as I look up from the book.
"It's only a one time thing I promise."
"Can I ask who you plan on summoning? How you plan on summoning them? You know you need something personal."
"Beau Waters."
I hand her the picture of the Waters family that Cassandra let me keep when I said I would help find her brother. Which I plan on doing.
Aunt Freya takes the picture out of my hand and studies it.
"And how do you know this family?"
My heart starts pounding, my palms start to sweat.
"It's a friend of mines brother. They told her he was dead, but she doesn't think so. I just want to confirm that he is in fact dead." I lie through my teeth.
Aunt Freya would never understand my search on my birth parents. She searched her whole life for the mikaelson's, for the family she got taken away from. As much as we both were raised by people who were not our family I don't think we can be placed in the same box. I was raised with a silver spoon in my mouth and aunt Freya got raised by her crazy aunt Dahlia. She would never understand why I would go looking for any other family when I have the best family of all.
"Okay let's get ready."Aunt Freya grabs the book.
She places the book in the middle of the carpet. We place four pink crystals in a circle so when the spirit does emerge it will be magically bond within the circle. We sit cross legged on opposite sides of each other and link our hands.
We start to chant;
Et velum inter mortalis spiritus intelligunt de mundi. Quaero quis revoca Beau Waters
I open my eyes, all I see is aunt Freya who looks as confuse as I am. We chant another three times and nothing happens.
I start to panic."What's wrong? Why isn't it working?"
Aunt Freya looks directly at me, "Beau Waters isn't dead."
