Get back

SOME PEOPLE HIT THE LOTTERY WHEN THEY are born. They get the looks, the brains, the money, and sure, from the outside looking in you might think that Sabrina LaRusso had it all but, deep down she felt like she had nothing. She was an outsider in her family, whether it was intentional or not.

No matter how much she tried, she was the middle child and that meant being overlooked. It didn't matter, she still loved her family to death and would never turn on them. Even when times were tough, they were going to be her forever people, at least she hoped they'd be.

To get her mind off things, she decided to go to the beach. The waves always seemed to calm her down enough to just relax and be at peace. Her father always talked about balance, and balance was exactly what she needed.

"Hello, ma'am. May I get you another lemonade?" Someone asked from above her, blocking the sun from over her.

"Um, no thanks. I haven't finished this one yet." Sabrina opened her eyes and laughed awkwardly once she realized it was a cute boy asking her the question.

"Can I get you anything else?" He questioned, a smile spread across him face.

"I'm good, thanks anyways." The LaRusso girl looked at his name tag. "Herman."

She furrowed her brows at the boys name, it certainly didn't match his look. Long hair, blue eyes, cute smile.

"It's a family name." The boy defended, laughing awkwardly just like Sabrina had before.

"Right." The LaRusso girl said in a sarcastic tone. "Well, i'm all good here, do you still want a tip? I know it's hot outside and you came all the way over he-"

"No, it's fine ma'am. No tip required." The boy smiled and walked off, leaving the LaRusso girl to close her eyes and relax again.

At some point, she dosed off and fell asleep, the sound of the waves and the chatter of everyone around her making her feel relaxed. Well, relaxed until she woke up and found that her wallet was missing, now that pissed her off.

"What the hell." After pouring out her whole beach bag and searching the area top to bottom, there was no sign of her wallet, only making the girls week worse than it had been.

So, she went to the manager, hoping she wouldn't sound pompous and rude at the fact that she's sure her wallet had been stolen.

"How can I help you, Ms.LaRusso?" The man asked thoughtfully.

"Um, I don't really know how to say this in a polite way but I think my wallet has been stolen? By someone that is visiting or working here?" Sabrina said hesitantly.

"Well, I am very sorry for that ma'am, we will do everything we can to help you solve this problem." The manager had a smile on his face but, you could tell he was annoyed.

Just as he was about to walk away, the LaRusso girl noticed Herman walking by, trying to avoid her gaze.

"Hey, Herman! Did you see anyone lurking around here trying to take my stuff while I was asleep?" She asked, the manager turned to face Herman with furrowed brows.

"Who is this?" The man questioned.

"He works here, earlier he asked if I wanted more lemonade." Sabrina was confused as to why the manager didn't recognize his staff, unless Herman wasn't part of the staff.

"He doesn't work-" the manager stopped himself from finishing his sentence. "Security!"

"Shit." Herman mumbled before quickly running off.

"Can you hold this?" Sabrina asked the managed, referring to the bag she was holding in her hand.

"Yes, ma'am." The older man took it from her hand and the LaRusso girl went sprinting away towards wherever the blue eyed boy went.

She chased him towards the quiet part of the beach where he sprinted down under the boardwalk. The LaRusso girl was completely out of breath but she wasn't going to let someone steal her wallet so easily so, she ran up to where he was.

"Hm, look who it is." She crossed her arms and raised a brow, looking at the boy in front of her.

"Listen, there is two guys coming this way and I don't want you to get hurt. You seem really cool and I-"

"Me get hurt?" Sabrina laughed. "Hand over the wallet unless you want to get hurt, blue eyes."

The LaRusso girl was never confident unless it came to her fighting skills, that was the one thing she was proud of.

"What are you going to do? Throw money at me till I melt?" He asked, placing a few wallets into a bag.

"No." Sabrina walked over angrily before swiping her leg under his, making him fall to the ground. "Give me my wallet."

The boy didn't respond, he just handed her the wallet, an angry expression on his face.

"Pleasure doing business with you, Herman." Sabrina smiled before beginning to walk away from him.

"It's not Herman!" He yelled from behind her as he got up to his feet.

"I didn't ask!" Sabrina smiled slightly, proud she stood up for herself and managed to get a good nap in.

She felt like a winner today.
