Part II - Encounter

"AAAHHHH!"
All their heads turned where the scream originated. Their eyes simultaneously roamed around at the commotion. The first railing barrier, which was preventing the lines to mix up, fell. The good news was no one got harmed, but everyone was in panic mode that even the staff who were supposed to guide them were not functioning well.
The railing barrier was constantly stomped upon by others who were panicking that Avry's friends got mixed up with the rest of the civilians.
"Brie? Thalya?" Her head was turning left and right, hoping she'd find her friends. She didn't notice their sudden absence earlier, especially they were just in front of her. All the people surrounding her were enveloped in anxiety, it was only her who didn't budge in her place. She was about to turn her back to find her friends when she heard the staff's voice.
"Everybody, please, calm down. And for those in front of me, you can now go inside the capsule. No more than 3 people inside," the staff announced and looked at Avry as if he was pertaining to her. Her heart started to pound in nervousness. She couldn't see her friends anywhere! She wasn't even sure if they were still with her. She couldn't go inside without them!
She wanted to run away to find them but the thought of her money going to waste prevented her. After seconds of debating in her head, she decided to go inside the capsule as the wheel continued to spin very slowly. She hurriedly went inside and sat at the other side of the capsule. "I'll just find them later. They must be mixed up with the others too," she said to herself.
"But why did they have to leave me?" she complained as she peeked outside the glass window. She had her arms crossed on her chest while her brows were still furrowed. Peace surrounded her but her mind was filled with gore-y images, pictures of how will she kill her friends after leaving her alone.
"I assume you still haven't noticed me."
Avry swiftly turned her head to the owner of the voice. She knew that voice, it only took her three times to listen to his voice before memorizing it; how deep it was, its distinct sound from the rest of the voices she had heard in her entire life. She even bragged to her friends about that.
Avry's heart started racing again. It was her first time being that close to her ultimate crush of all time. Her eyes were wide. And for a moment, she stopped breathing, literally. She stared at his charming face. Fine jawline, brown eyes, and thin, glossy lips. How could anyone as beautiful as he is allowed to be with her in the same capsule?
Silence surrounded them for a second before she got back to her senses.
"Oh, hey... Ethan," she greeted and smiled a little, still shocked. This young man in front of her was a head taller than her. He was wearing a white shirt partnered with jersey shorts. She assumed he changed his clothes already after playing basketball on their school court.
I didn't know he'd be here in the fair too, she thought to herself.
Ethan's thick brows furrowed. "How'd you know my name?" he asked.
"Well, you're a jock. That must explain everything," Avry answered in her very natural tone she could muster.
"Am I really that famous?" asked Ethan whose eyes were on the ground, acting like he was thinking.
"That's really obvious. I'm sure you're aware of all the girls going crazy about you, right?" Avry stated the obvious. She needed to act like her usual self so Ethan wouldn't notice that she was also one of his fangirls.
