*~*~* 8 years have passed *~*~*
Aladdin hightailed it out of the market, gaurds right on his heels. Turing down an alley, he sprinted down, only to end up at dead end. 'Damn' he thought.
"Ha! We have you now thief! Hand over the bread you stole." Hakurai had rose up the ranks like weeds and was now head guard, stood facing Aladdin with a firm smu across his face.
"Why?" Aladdin asked.
"Because you stole it. You didn't pay for it." Hakurai explained flustered.
'Come on Alibaba. Anytime now.' As soon as he thought it, a rope appeared beside him. He gripped it and tugged, flying up the staccato walls. Aladdin expertly landed on the roof top next to a small boy. Alibaba snorted and spit on the gaurds far below. Aladdin thumped him over the head.
"Ow. Why'd ya do that Ali?" He asked rubbing his head.
"Just 'cause I'm acting like an ass, doesn't mean you have the right to, Alibaba." He slumped down and pulled the bread from his thin vest. It was slightly smushed, but overall seemed okay to eat. "Lets go home Baba." He stashed the bread brack into its hiding place. They two boys were soon leaping across rooftops, heading to their old home.
*~*~*
Soon, the cold Arabian night settled over them. The two huddled underneath one small blanket that Aladdin had stolen long ago, trying to keep one-another warm.
"Aladdin, I'm f-freezing." The fifteen year old boy sounded like he was ten.
"I know Alibaba. Here have more blanket and try to sleep. I have to take a piss." Aladdin removed the blanket and replaced it ontop of Alibaba. He wandered outside. The city was finally silent and there were so many stars, as far as the eye coud see.
Aladdin jumped across the alley to the next roof. He had the best view of the palace from this spot. There were always lights on. They never seem to dispear. He was glad there was always some light that seemed to sneak in through the tattered curtains of his home and illuminate the area the tinniest bit.
Aladdin sat out there for hours. Waiting for the sun to creep over the palaces tallest tower and wake the world from the moons spell. He trapsed back to his home and sat on some tattered pillows, watching Alibaba sleep like a baby.
*~*~*
"Your Highness, breakfast is ready. Shall I leave it here for you?" A timid maid spoke softly as she set the tray on the table next to the prince's bed.
"Yes. That'll be fine, Mirada. You may leave now." Jesinei spoke without looking up from his book. The large arabian wolf spread itself by his side, head resting in the Prince's lap. The maid left the room. Jesinei checked the door, locked securely and no sounds from outside.
He threw the blankets from his lap and ran to the balcony overlooking the slums of Balthazar. He especialy requested this room because he hoped to see the little thief boy again. The sun was rising over the horizon, relieving the moon of its power.
"Oh, Raja. When will I be able to see the world?" Raja rubbed up against Jesninei, having no answer except comfort. The exremely rare wolfs height exeded his waist. Raja's head stayed level with Jesinei's chest, always protective of his master.
"Why don't I just sneak out?" Jesinei asked. He had contiplated it many times, but he was sure toay was the day he wold be able to see outside the castle walls. "Wouldn't today be the most wonderful day to see the city?" He kneeled down and scratched the side of Raja's face. Scrunching and contorting the skin around his mouth. Raja's toungue slid out of his mouth and placed a slobbery lick upon the princes face.
"Gross Raj. Please help me." Raja growled, Jesinei growled back, Raja lowered his mighty head, agreeing to aid the prince.
*~*
"One. Two. Three." Raja bounced theprince up and over the wall. Jesinei waved below landing on the other side. He wandered down a path that seemed to be long forgotten, down to the city streets below. In his old tattered clothers he blended in well for a street rat or beggar.
As he gazed upon the city, he noticed people hunched over, sickly thin. There were kids who were caked in filth, playing with sticks. Things were not what the prince had imagined them to be like. A little girl wandered up to him, outstreching a dirty hand.
"Here little one." He took an apple from a nearby cart and gave it o the girl. She smiled and ran off.
"I hope you can pay for that boy." A gruff voice spoke behind him. Jesinei turned to see a very large merchent glowering at him.
"I'm sorry but I do not have any money. I can go back to the p-"
"There you are brother! Ive been looking for you all morning! Didnt I tell you not to wander off?" Some one cut him off and wrapped an arm around his shoulder.
"Umm. Yes?" Jesinei spoke wary of the people beside him.
The person, who had his arm around Jesinei, hada cloth over his nose and mouth. It was strange to see someone actually dressing like that. Other than escorts. The clothed man turned to the merchant.
"He's not the sharpest knife in the sheath. If you know what I mean." He told him. Jesinei finally got te hint and turned to a parrot squaking nonsense.
"Mother?"
"Let me just take him back home." They turned away. "You better watch your melons merchant."
The burly merchant spun around in time to see someone making off with two melons in his arms. "Hey you! Get back here! Guards!"
"We better go too." The clothed man grabbed Jesinei's arm and sprinted off to a sidestreet. The gaurds ran past not a secong later, chasing the melon the thief. Two couple slowed down and the clothed one stooped down.
"Get on if you don't wanna be caught, newbe." Jesinei cautiously got on the strangers back. He began to run up a small hill that ened in a cliff.
"What are you thinking?! We're going to die!" Jesinei held tightly as the man jumped off the edge. Only to grab a rop a second later. They spun mid-air and landed on he rooftops, that were once high above. They landed with a an echoing thud and tumbled.
Jesinei moaned about the throbing in his head. He soon stopped when he noticed the stranger staring at him. "What?"
"Nothin,. Though we'd met before. Now, Alibaba!" He shouted across the roofs. A reply could be heard far away. The man whose name sounded something like Aladine, or something turned and smile at Jesinei. "Want to come withme or face those guards again?"
He out stratched a hand and Jesinei took it. Going with a man whome he had never even seen before was better than explaining to his mother why he was outside the palace.
"Lets go." The man said. He began runnig to the roofs edge with Jesinei right behind. They jumped together. Sending both of them into a whole new twist of fate.
