Broken Hope (Not Original!)

Chapter 6

Nightmare wasn't really sure how to begin explaining how who he now knew as 'Reboot' had gotten there, as he wasn't entirely sure himself. Destiny had said something about him and Error being swapped but he wasn't sure how, or rather what to do to get him back to his original universe. He had managed to explain part of what he knew, leaving out bits and pieces that would cause him hassle later and was now sitting with Reboot in his office, Killer sitting on his desk beside him, messing about with a knife.

"So you really don't know how you got here?" Nightmare asked, putting his fingertips to his temples. "No, I just remember being in Halluciv's mansion, walking into my room, and then passing out, that's it." Reboot said tucking one of his knees to his chest, warily eyeing Killer. "Well.. hopefully we can help get you back, I would hate for you to be stuck with us forever, your team sounds much different from ours." Nightmare said standing up, looking over his shoulder at Reboot. "Come along now, I'll show you to your room." He walked out the door, then looks at Killer. "Go do whatever you like, I will meet up with you and the team later, tell them to meet in the dining hall." Nightmare ordered and lead Reboot out the door.

"You know, you are a lot different from your counterpart in my universe, you act more like his brother.." Reboot said, trying to make some conversation as the headed up the flight of stairs. "I can't imagine my brother leading a team, he already has his mind going all over the place, getting him to form a cohesive plan would be near impossible." Nightmare said, smirking at the irony. "Well, I guess most everyone in my universe is swapped then, though everyone here isn't so bad." Reboot said, smiling at Nightmare. "I'm sure I can get along with everyone in this universe!" He said positively, making nightmare cringe a bit. "Yeah.. good luck with that, not everything is sunshine and rainbows here. I get that you are the good guy in your universe but we are not." He said crossing his arms and sighing "Though I don't think I should let you near the creator in this universe either, he would mistake you for your doppelganger and then things would go downhill very quickly." Nightmare said, stopping at a door. "This is your room, mine is just down the hallway" He paused, pointing at a room at the end of the corridor with a crescent moon on it. "Just tell me if you need anything alright? I'll let you get settled in, I need to go talk to my team." He finished, stepping away, then trudging back up the hallway.

"So how exactly are we supposed to deal with this?" Cross asked, folding his arms across the table. "This random Error lookalike shows up, but he is actually from another multiverse and the creator from there?? We just lost our best friend and now we have to deal with this constant reminder walking around here?!" He exclaimed. "Look I get it, this isn't easy for any of us, but the sooner we except him, the sooner we figure out a way to get Error back, he is the key." Nightmare reasoned, trying to stay level head .  "He is right guys, from what he told me, Error is still alive, him and Reboot just swapped places, so we need to chill out for a bit and find a way to get our friend back." Killer said, defending Nightmare.

"But what if we can't get him back, what then? Are we just gonna be stuck with this guy?? What about Ink, who will keep him in check?!" Dust asked. Horror nodded. "I..I'm not entirely sure yet, but we can't just jump to conclusions, we need to stay calm and think this through rationally when the time is necessary." Nightmare said. "I know this will be difficult for all of us, but we have to push through it if we want to ever get our friend back!" He exclaimed, putting his hands on the table. "I miss him too, I know everyone here does, he was an essential part of our family.. I get that it still hurts all of us, but we can't take it out on someone when it isn't even their fault to begin with. Just trust me, we will get him back." Nightmare said, his gaze softening. The others looked at each other for a moment before Cross spoke up. "Okay, what is your plan to get him back?"
