than you put your hands
on me,
and I felt the world shiver
and shake.

I felt the pounding
underneath my feet
that ran through my veins
and I prayed you didn't notice me drowning in the hurricane
of blue your eyes were.

the ocean roared
and im certain that moment
you kicked the door down
and looked into my soul
of futures and failures,
of sins and photo albums of broken memories.

you looked into my soul
and read all the words that burnt page after page of how he destroyed me.

your raven silk
was nothing compared to his
blond locks;
you said you'd never hurt me
but my mother always told me to
never trust the ocean.
