Friendship? Chapter 7

When I saw it was Preston who carefully grabbed my hand I wanted to pull away. Then I saw his blush and felt bad for wanting to reject him. He was also uncomfortable with the situation, so I just left my hand in his. I release Radley's arm and continue watching the movie. When the next scary scene come I feel a squeeze on my hand and look over to Preston to see him looking horrified. I gave his hand two squeezes, he turns to look at me and I give him a weak smile and turn back to the T.V. I feel his eyes stay on me for a minute or two longer until they return to watch the movie. I turn to look at Radley and see he is fairly unfazed by the movie. I watch the rest of the movie with my hand in Preston's and feeling him squeeze my hand a few times, which I would squeeze back for a reply. 

When the end credits started rolling Preston finally lets go of my hand which I quickly place in my lap and rub from being squeezed and squeezing so much. I look over to Radley who rubs his eyes and yawns, he really didn't get affected by the scary movie? I turn my head to look at Preston and when I do my eyes lock on with his immediately, I tried to push the light blush that threatened to rise away. He smiled, it looked fairly genuine, but I wouldn't trust it. He was always playing jokes and it got on my nerves a little so I just turned to face forward again and pulled out my phone.

"Oh you have a cellphone? May I have your number?"

I looked over at Preston with a little bit of surprise. 

"Umm...Yeah, sure. It's XXX-XXX-XXXX."

He nodded and smiled at the phone number he was entering into his phone. Seeing him smile from such a small action made my cheeks burn. I turned to look at Radley, and I think for a second I saw the jealousy in his eyes again.

"Well It has been great seeing you little brother, but I have to get back to my own apartment. I will see you tomorrow. Oh, and Ray, I will message you later."

He winked at me with a smile, and walked out the door. I blinked a few times before my brain processed what he said and I blushed full on when it finally clicked. Radley must have saw me blush because when I turned to face him he had a scowl on his face.

"Um....Are you okay Radley?"

He made eye contact with me and only nodded. I felt my heart shake and threaten to fall into my stomach and kill me. I felt my eyes burn and my lips curve down. I nodded back at him and hugged my knees to my chest. I am not sure I can deal with being his friend, and this was only the first night.

"Maybe I should go too.."

"Please don't..."

When he said that my heart defiantly dropped into my stomach and my breathe caught in my throat. I looked over at him and he was covering his face with his hands. he must have realized what he said because I could see his ears get red.

"What I mean to say is that we should watch another movie, or just talk for a while longer."

I smile and blush, I didn't fight it this time either.

"Yeah, I would like that." 

I smiled down at the floor and felt a warm hand on my knee. I look up to see him looking at me.

"Ray If you ever need to talk to someone about...you know. You can always come and talk to me and I would be happy to listen."

"Thanks Radley."

He nods and stands up turning back to me to ask another question with a happier look in his eyes.

"How about I make up us some milkshakes while you find another movie to watch?"

"Yeah sounds good!"

I smile largely, and go in his room to look for a movie. I had been in here before, but I didn't look around when I was in here last time. I looked for a place where he would put movies, I see a bookcase to my left. I walk over there and see two shelves just for movies. Usually after I watch a scary movie I watch a comedy or drama. I choose the Disney movie Hercules, I knew it was a cute movie and because he had it on his shelf I had to tease him about it. When I walked out of his room he was on the couch with two chocolate milkshakes. I plop down next to him and show him a movie, I see him blush a little and I laugh.

"What do not like disney movies? Even though I found it on your book shelf."

"Of course I like It! Its about a weak boy becoming a hero!"

I laugh and put the movie in, I sit back down and have my milkshake handed to me and I take a few sips.

"Thanks for the milkshake it's really good."

"Yeah no problem!"

He smiled at me and I couldn't help but let my cheeks rise with rose coloring, we watched the movie in peace. Beside the fact our legs and shoulders were touching from sitting so close. I could barely keep my breathing under control, I gave up on calming my heart instead I felt it go faster and faster. I suddenly jump up from off the couch.

"Oh, umm...I am gonna go to the bathroom.."

I walk to the bathroom and shut the door behind me. I am so dumb, I freak out over the simplest things that anyone else would be calm over. I splash water on my face and walk back out to the couch. I sit down making sure we were far enough away so my heart would not explode. I watch the rest of the movie horribly aware of the boy I am in love with sitting next to me.

The movie ends and I look over to see Radley, sleeping? Oh great, now I have to sit here, I watch his chest go up and down in a slow pattern. I do this for a few minutes before going in his room and retrieving a blanket for him. I lay it on him and watch as he immediately clings to it.  I put a pillow on the floor near the couch and slowly drift off into sleep looking at his relaxed face as it breaths in and out.

The next morning I woke up to a sudden thud and weight pressed on my back. I turn over to see Radley laying horizontally on top of me.

"Oh, Ray. I am really sorry, I didn't know you were on the floor. I tripped over you, I did not mean to wake you up."

I laughed and got up, having to repeatedly tell him it was fine. I went to the bathroom to comb threw my hair and do other lady things. I decided to just go straight home, I said my thank you's and goodbye's and left. I walked home trying to store away all the amazing memories of Radley from last night. When I got in the house and ate my usual cereal, Captain Crunch, I decided to get some homework done, since I have missed quite a few days of school. Tomorrow I also decided that I should head back to school, I will have to answer a lot of questions and make up a lot of lessons, but it needs to be done. Plus I get to see Radley more often, I smirk and get ready for tomorrows school day.
