"Astronomy is so boring!!!" Jake whined, leaning back on his chair. "Come on Jake, we have no time." I said impatiently. "No time?! There's still 3 days left!" He exclaimed. "3 days left to do the project, 2 of which we need to use for comet viewing." I pointed out. He grumbled under his breath.

The day of the comet viewing came, but it rained all day. At this rate, we will never be able to see it. I sighed for the nth time. "Will you stop it?!" Jake said, frustrated. "I can't! I'm so looking forward to this." I said, on the verge of tears. He just looked at me with an unreadable expression and left. Some guy.

The rain still poured until late at night. I was curled up in my bed, sobbing silently. A knock on the window startled me. I opened the window and saw Jake waving at me in the rain. He was using a really big umbrella. "What?" I shouted to him. "Come with me!" He said. I'm confused but followed anyway.

"Where are we going? It's almost midnight!" I hissed at him. "But you came after all." He said. That's right. I don't know why but I just trusted him. "We're here." He lowered the umbrella. We're up a hill, and the rain has stopped here. But the sky was still cloudy. "What are we doing here?" I asked. He said nothing but pulled out a blanket and lay it down on the dry grass. He patted the seat next to him.

"What?" I asked, after sitting next to him. "Look up there." He whispered. I looked up and gasped. The sky was clear now, and the sky was so starry. "It's beautiful!" I whispered, captivated. "It is." He whispered back. I glanced at him and saw that he's not looking at the sky but at me. I blushed.

Suddenly the comet came into view. Neither of us said a word. After the comet left, I asked him, "How do you know it will be clear tonight?"

"I just know."
