-Previously in Broken (book 2)-
-Gabriel's POV-
"Hey, Kaden. We are going to see that new movie that just came out, you should come with us," she flirted, I paid them no mind as I sipped on my drink, and waited for Kaden to turn them down.
"I'm actually spending time with my friends today but thank you for the offer, I hope you enjoy the movie." Kaden was always so polite, no matter the circumstances he kept a cool head, and everybody respected him for it.
"They're with their partners and you're all by yourself, and I couldn't help but notice how lonely you looked, maybe we could help," she persisted, twirling a piece of hair between her fingers.
"I can't think of anything I would want to do less," he sighed.
"What do you mean?" Can't she take the hint, he's clearly not interested, how desperate do you have to be?
"He means he's not interested." The words slipped past my lips before I could even think, but I didn't regret them.
"No one asked you, freak." She shot me a disgusted look that I brushed off, I really didn't care what she thought of me, but apparently Cameron did, before I even realised what was happening, Cameron had jumped to his feet.
"Who gives you the right to call my boyfriend a freak when you're over there practically throwing your panties at the first sign of a cute boy? He obviously isn't interested, and you're too thick to even understand what he is saying, so why don't you stop embarrassing yourself and find another poor boy to harass," my keeper snapped angrily, and I pulled him back down into his seat.
"Calm down baby," I chuckled as I pulled the boy against me and felt him relax, I loved how defensive he got over me, it was fucking hot.
"What he said," Kaden replied, with one last look at the girls before they stormed off.
"That was awesome, man," Adrian chuckled, shooting Cameron a look of pride.
"You look really hot when you defend me like that, thank you baby," I told Cameron in our mind-link, finding pleasure in seeing him blush at my words, before he cuddled closer.
"Shit, dude. Did you see the look on her face? Props to you," someone said, I almost forgot we weren't alone at the table, and soon we all started talking to one another, I even learned a few of their names, maybe it wouldn't be bad to make a few new friends.
-Now-
-Kaden's POV-
School was pretty boring, but I tried to pay attention anyway, usually even if I weren't paying attention, I could at least pretend like I was, but lately I just don't know what was going on with me.
When I spaced out, it became very obvious that I was spacing out. Luckily, nobody really bothered me about it. In fact, it seemed the only person bothered by it, was me.
I can't afford to be doing this all the time, people relied on me too much. What kind of king am I if I can't even seem to pay attention to the things going on around me?
I sighed, walking into my Maths class, and immediately making a beeline to the back of the class, Adrian was already sitting in his seat, singing alone to whatever song was currently blasting through his headphones.
"I'm starving," I mumbled as I past him, taking the seat next to his.
"Good job lunch is next then," he grinned, pulling one side of the headphones back on his head so he could hear me properly. "Did you skip breakfast?"
