{ resuming from case on previous chapter }
The next day, the team had to move fast.
The school was a dead end as the team had checked it out but no suspicion arised.
"This unsub is unorganised and messy. This seems as if it's some sort of revenge plot against the students." Hotch began, giving the profile to the police.
"We believe that this unsub is between the ages 24-30. They may work at the school. They may be a parent. This unsub will be alert but not noticeable. They easily blend into a crowd."
Delilah added.
"Also, we know that the unsubs geographical profile is in the school zone so keep a look out for anyone suspicious in the area." Spencer responds.
"We had Garcia, our technical analyst ,find a list of possible unsubs in the area.If you recognise any names that stand out to you, let us know." Derek states.
"We haven't received any notes from the unsub so this is strictly revenge on someone else. The unsub hasn't attempted to contact any law enforcement or any media which led us to this conclusion." Blake says.
"This guy wants to send a message to someone. We don't know who but soon he will slip up, giving us the opportunity to find him." Rossi added
"The injuries to the victims were severe and there was mass overkill which also lead us to the idea of revenge." JJ finishes.
Parting from the officers, the team rings up Garcia as they try to get more information.
"What have you got for me baby girl?" Derek asks Garcia as he smirks.
"Well, what do you fancy my chocolate thunder?" she replies with a flirty laugh.
"Well, I need to know about the possible unsubs." he responds with a more serious tone.
"Well I have narrowed it down to people based on our profile. We have Sam Richards 26 years old who graduated from the very same school. Dropped out of university and now lives with his mother. The other possible unsub is Kevin York 29, it says here that he has a part time job at the library nearby. We don't have a listed address here."
"Right Rossi, Morgan, Alex and I will go to Sam Richards mothers house and see what we find. JJ, Reid and Gray, you go to the Library. Let me know what you find." Hotch explains as he begins to put on a vest just in case.
Excitement filled Delilah as this was her first time out on a case as a real agent. As a part of the team. Things with Spencer were also going well however anxiety wrapped around her chest as she remembered she had to go into the field with him. Would it affect her state and mindset? Would she do something foolish?
Garcia had failed to mention that the library was abandoned and had not been in business for years.A loud screech flowed through the doors.
"We need to go in now." Delilah says, slightly choking on her words.
"We can't, we need to go back for our vests." Spencer says worriedly.
"Spence, she's right. We need to go in there now. There's clearly hostages." JJ responds, her face shocked by the children's screams.
"Fine but we stay together." he replies nervously.
"Hey Hotch, we need you guys here. There's hostages here but we're going in." Spencer tells him shakily.
"Okay. We will be there soon. Make sure Agent Gray speaks to the hostage. She after all is by far one of our best negotiators." Hotch responds.
Spencer felt a shock hit his chest.
"Why didn't she tell me she was now officially an agent?" he thought to himself, surprised by the fact.
A slight tug on his arm pulled him back to reality. "Spence, Gray has just grabbed the vests so don't worry." JJ says with a light smile.
JJ kicks the door open forcefully ; all their guns pointing in different directions, becoming prepared for anything.
As they walk in a strong stench fills their lungs causing them to choke on the air around them.
A strange substance begins to drop onto Delilah's shoulder, causing her to gaze up.
A dead boy's body hanging above her, his eyes practically seeping into her soul.
"Guys." Delilah whispers as she looks around the ceiling, seeing even more corpses hanging.
A screech echos through the walls of the library. "Help us. Please help us."
JJ runs forward, attempting to find the children. A blow from the top of a shotgun hits her head, pushing her to the ground.
Spencer tries to move past Delilah, pulling her behind him.
"Spencer, I know Hotch said I'm negotiating. He told me. Now let me do my job." Delilah says frustrated at him as she pushes his hand away.
"Fine, you distract him and I'll get the kids and JJ out." Spencer responds bothered by her comment.
"Hello, Mr York. My name is Agent Gray. I work for the FBI." she states attempting to get his attention.
"Hello Agent Gray. You look really pretty today." Kevin York says through a microphone, hiding his current location.
"How would you know Mr York? You're not here with me" Delilah responds even though she knows of the cameras behind her head.
"That's for me to know and for you to find out Agent Gray. Did you like high school?" he asks with a curious tone.
Delilah motions her hand at Spencer as she blocks the camera , letting him take out JJ and the children. His movement was hesitant but he had to do as he was told. It wasn't his decision.
"I didn't go to high school I'm afraid Mr York. I can't tell you much." Delilah responds, trying to calm herself.
A ringing attacks Delilah's ears as a gunshot shatters another child; a body falls just next to her feet.
"Well that's boring. You're boring. However,I think I could get to like you. " Kevin York replies to her with a smirk, as he walks down the spiral staircase above.
A shiver touches Delilah as he takes creeping steps towards her. Her gun pointed straight towards his face with no hesitation.
"Bully's deserve to die. I'm no bully. But the rest of these kids made other people's lives hell. So I sent them to hell personally." York says with spitting rage.
"No one deserves death. Not even the most malicious people." Delilah responds smoothly but bitterly.
"Do not defend bullies." he says, his tone becoming more enraged.
York's arm swings round shooting into Delilah causing her to retaliate as she shoots him resentfully in the leg.
Hotch runs up towards Delilah moments later with Morgan, Alex and Rossi slightly behind him, watching her cuff the unsub exasperatingly and passing him to the officer and paramedics.
"How is JJ, the kids,Spencer? They're going to be okay, right?" Delilah asks, hopeful.
"They're fine. JJ has a slight concussion so I sent her to get checked out then sent her home. The kids are in the hospital and Spencer is just outside. We will get you checked out too. Lucky you put on a vest. It will only leave a small bruise; You'll be okay. Well done on your first case Agent Gray." Hotch says with a small smile.
"Thank you. Glad I could help. Can I have a moment?" she responds, tears appearing in the corner of her eyes.
Hotch nods towards her as he leaves, the others following him giving Delilah a wide smile.
"I have just saved people. I saved children. I helped." Delilah repeats to herself before retreating from the library to then be greeted by Spencer, a proud look on her face.
"He's okay. Everyone's okay. " she thought with relief.
