_____________________________A soft classical song played quietly on the gramophone next to the first lady's bed. Vivienne hummed softly to the tune as she neatly organized the fresh laundry.
She had always liked to clean. There was something about tidying up a room that always satisfied her need for perfection. She sighed with a smile and closed her eyes, listening to the music filling the room. The scent of floral air freshener and clean laundry seeping into her nose.
This was perfect.
Vivienne flicked her mouse tail and brushed out the wrinkles in her dress. The first lady was at another meeting today with the city council.
The only exposure she had to them was from the short snippets of speech the first lady vented to her. From how she spoke about them, they seemed like a bunch of petty, obnoxious, whiney imbeciles.
However, not having met any member of the city council, Vivienne didn't want to make any assumptions. The door to the bedroom opened startling Vivienne and breaking her out of her trance. Another maid walked in with a new full cart of laundry.
"These are the towls," the maid said sheepishly.
None of the other maids seemed to be as enthusiastic about their job at the palace as Vivienne."Thank you Meredith," she said calmly with a smile.
The maid sighed and walked out of the room closing the door behind her.Vivienne examined the bin in front of her for a moment. Then, she waved her hand in front of the towls and turned around to continue folding the laundry she was previously working on. The towls slowly floated out of the bin and folded themselves into neat little rolls. They stacked up in a pyramid and waited for Vivienne to address them.
She finished folding the last item of clothing and flicked her wrist so the pyramid of towls flew up in the air she guided them through the bathroom door and set them neatly in the cabinet next to the bathtub.
Neat
Perfect
And clean
Everything Vivienne wanted. She smiled and reflected on how much she enjoyed her current lifestyle.
Suddenly, a bubbly, cute tune played from behind her. She turned around and saw the floating timer she set. Vivienne gasped and dashed over to the window opening the blinds.
The sky glowed pink and orange.Vivienne's shift was over.
She sighed and slowly gathered her cleaning supplies walking out the door. Although she lived on the palace grounds, she much more enjoyed working rather than the time after.
Vivienne made her way down the stairs and to the housing campus. She scanned her employee card on the housing unit she resided in and yanked the heavy door open.
Right before she was about to close the door and call it a day, she heard a familiar yell from the fence.
"Hey rat girl!! You gonna leave me here??"
Vivienne rat out the door and layed her eyes on her best friend Mobi.
Mobi was a bunny who live outside the palace. Everyday after her shift, she would come home to find Mobi pearched atop the palace guard fence. Vivienne had no idea how she even got up there, but it made her day to know that a friend made the effort to see her again.
