Ibuki was never very close to her parents, in fact, she and her folks barely interacted. They didn't approve of her life choices and wanted her to do something else, like be a teacher or doctor or something else that is professional but it never situated her. But Mikan believed in her. Mikan helped Ibuki with her dream. Mikan made it all better, since she was never close with her parents either. Mikan acted like a parent to Ibuki even before they dated. She didn't want to be a mother to her but wanted to be the sense of comfort and safety neither of them had. But when Ibuki found out her parents passed away. She couldn't smile or even do anything other than cry for a month. She didn't understand why though. They never were there for her so why was she so depressed? Mikan fed her for that month. She cared for her and bathed her, never seeing her girlfriend so upset. Ibuki's hair had to be redyed and recut after having a breakdown shortly after the incident. Mikan didn't know what else to do that would make Ibuki feel better, she wondered if she offered her body to her then maybe Ibuki would feel better- no. Everything about this cat made Mikan think about Ibuki. She had to get her. She purchased the food and litter and of course the cat herself. She brought everything to the desk and saw.... Gundham! "Why hello WOMAN!" Yeah Gundham wasn't too fond of Mikan. "H-hello Gundham.. Ibuki is sad so I got these things for her... And the cat." "And will you take care of the both of them?" While Ibuki was in bed all day playing with the kitten. Mikan was sleeping on the couch a little nervous about her reaction.
Its been two years since then and they are super happy to take care of their cat baby.
