The moment when Junpei died in Itadori's arms, he felt a vast emptiness laced with rage inside him. He realized that he has no choice but to accept the truth. Tapping into his hatred, he fought Mahito with a blurred state of mind. Yuji was caught in battle with a curse who's technique allowed them to meddle with other people's souls. That curse transformed Junpei's soul and the poor boy was turned into a monstrous being.
Both Itadori and Nanami were now back at the Jujutsu Tech as they debriefed from the latest incident. Yuji was devastated after he realized he killed a person that day. The younger boy asked Nanami what the older man thought death was. Nanami couldn't give a proper answer to the question. Even if people assume the the proper rule of death is that benevolent people pass on peacefully and evil people die horribly. In reality, most people in this world are neither good or evil. He thought if that was the only way, he at least want them to die properly. Death is the final destination of all people, but no two people will die that same death. Giving proper guidance to all of those souls is most likely a path of misery.A path of revenge should be overlooked with moderation. That is what Nanami kept repeating into Yuji's head. It would be a problem if he were to die again. Just like how Nanami would be dead if it weren't for Yuji breaking through Mahito's domain. He knew that many people in the near future would need the boy's help. From the conversation the both of them shared, Yuji still don't know what the hell a proper death is. But, at least, until he does now, and until he finally kill Mahito, he knows he will never lose again. Yuji Itadori will walk one step closer as a shaman.
It had been almost three weeks since the last time Sakura saw Yuji. She had heard what happened to Yuji from her mentor, Shoko. Sakura's dorm room was placed right next to Yuji's. Their windows shared the same view of the forest. She slid open her glass doors overlooking the outside view and turned her head to see Yuji sitting on the wooden platform on his room. He didn't notice her at all. Too focused in his own head. The girl moved her feet to step closer to the boy and contemplated whether or not she should say something.
"Mind if I join you?" Sakura spoke. Yuji's head turned to the direction of her voice and his dulled eyes lit up for a split second. He put on the biggest smile and it warmed her to see his sulking stopped. Whether he was faking it or not, it looked too sincere to think otherwise.
"Sakura!" He patted on the empty space on the wooden platform next to him. She took the gesture as an invitation and sat down. She brought her feet up close to her chest and wrapped her arms around it, "It's been awhile, yeah?"
"It has."
"How's training going?"
"It's been slow for the time being. Ieri-sensei specializes in reverse curse technique which doesn't do much help to my physical training. With Gojo-sensei constantly going overseas, I've been training alone based off what I learned from las time I had a training session with him."
"Why can't another teacher help you with that?""Unfortunately, almost all Jujutsu Tech's teachers have their hand full already. And, officially Ieri-sensei is my mentor so it wouldn't make sense if another teacher was to teach me."
"Well, if anything, just knock on my door and we can train together." Yuji said. His words were soft but his voice sounded dry. It's almost as if he hasn't had a drink all of today. The dark blemish under his eyes were more prominent than ever. The cheerful smile she once saw in him no longer there.
"Are you okay, Itadori?"
"Totally! I'm fine." Yuji said with false enthusiasm. Seconds passed and silence slowly filled the gaps in between the two students. Yuji's tired eyes started closing on him and his head fell down slightly. The droop on his neck looked straining. Sakura could see that he was lying based off of his expression, "Heh... That's not true at all.""There's a myth. The myth goes... if you want to be happy, you need a lot of friends, a whole lot of money, and you need to build a successful life ahead of yourself. But, one day, I saw a broken kite stuck on top of a tree and a little boy crying because he couldn't reach it. I went over and helped get the kite to the kid. His face immediately lit up. Even if the kite was broken, he looked like the happiest kid ever. He was just glad the kite came back to him."
Yuji looked at Sakura and saw her smiling at him. Her hair was up in a messy bun and her side bangs falling down on her face. The sun hitting her face just right that she looked like she was shining, "I guess what I'm trying to say is, It takes very little to be happy. It's whether or not you let yourself slip past the bad parts. Because at the end of the day, there's always a gonna be a little bit of light everywhere."
The pink haired boy could feel his face getting warmer. He didn't know if it was because the sun was hitting his cheeks or because of what the girl had said. He had been thinking of what the meaning of death is. Focused on on the darkness aspect of it. But, he didn't stop to think that there's only darkness when there's light."Sakura?"
"Hmm?" Sakura turned her head to look at Yuji once again. This time, he had a soft gaze on his eyes. No longer furrowing his brows and the curve on his lips looked sincere.
"I know I said I'm not fine, but after hearing you say that... I know I will be."
