It's the holidays and I don't need to do any work (not yet anyway) so I'm writing again.
This chapter is in two parts, and just tells the events from early March that year to June. Thank you!!! :)1 week later:
Sherlock and Jim fell back into their usual routine once again. Sherlock spending most of his time with John, who after Sherlock's recent decision to work with Jim, had spent most of his time with his new girlfriend, Mary. It was a little awkward of course, as Sherlock wasn't interested in the sentiment between the young couple at all, but seemed to like Mary, as she was intelligent and unlike the other girls in the school. Sometimes, the curly haired teen would break away, and go somewhere quiet to work out a puzzle of some sort, feeling that he needed to use his brain in some way.
He carried on working for Jim, but did that work at home as he didn't want anyone getting any suspicions as to what he was doing.Every time he met the short Irish teen in that same corridor to collect work, he wore a grin on his face. The two boys seemed to grin at each other when they had their short business conversations. Jim would drop the occasional hint: 'Make sure you give that file back to me, /soon/ darling.' And Sherlock would smirk.
The two of them couldn't talk about much in the corridor, as Sebastian would always be leaning up a wall somewhere very close, watching them, and narrowing his eyes at Sherlock. It was obvious that the two taller teens had a dislike for each other. Jim knew, and found it quite funny.
Sherlock would complain in their maths lessons when sitting next to Jim, saying: 'How can you like anyone like him? Idiot.' But Jim would always come back with: 'Well I have the same feelings about John. He's an idiot.' And that would always shut him up.
1 month later: (April).
Although maths wasn't Sherlock's favoured lesson, he always smiled to himself when he had that lesson next. He and Jim had so much to say when they were in each other's company. It seemed as if no one else was in the maths lesson with them, and it was just the two of them.
The two young geniuses lingered in the lesson for five minutes after the bell rang, in a hope to talk to each other for a little longer without Sebastian knowing something was being planned.
Sometimes, in their English lessons, Irene would tease Sherlock, and say: 'I saw you flirting with Jim again in maths. If he wasn't taken, you'd look sweet together.'
Sherlock would always deny this and shake his head with a scowl. He didn't /flirt/, he wasn't that type of person at all. However, his grin sooner returned once when he received a text from Jim after Irene had teased him with that comment.
14:34: She wants you, Sherlock. JM x.14:35: I know, but the feeling is not mutual. SH
14:36: I'm glad... JM x.
A few weeks afterwards:
It was the Easter holidays, and so Jim and Sherlock were not able to see each other at school. Although Jim proposed that they had to meet at one point, preferably on the day that Sebastian and his parents were driving down to the South of the country to meet his family.
And thus, on the Tuesday of the second week of the holiday, the two teens decided to meet at Sherlock's house. It was a cold day, and the weather really lived up to the 'April showers' joke, and so the park wasn't an option.Jim arrived at Sherlock's household at 11:00am that day, his body hunched up because of the cold, his black coat wrapped around him. The curly haired teen started laughing at him when he saw his wet raven haired flopping against his forehead, but received a playful punch in the arm when the smaller teen stepped into the house.
They headed upstairs to Sherlock's bedroom and flopped on the bed with huge grins on their faces. They sat in comfortable silence for a few moments, just thinking about how happy they were in each other's company, before realising that they were silent and burst out laughing at the same time.
"Did you miss me?" Jim laughed, raising his eyebrows at Sherlock, wearing that stupid grin. Yes, it had been just over a week, but the boys had missed each other. They had missed each other's intelligence, which would be weird to other people, but to them, it was completely normal as they both needed to be constantly challenged by something or someone.
"Nahhh, you're just like the rest." Sherlock teased, with a shake of his head.
Jim feigned mock shock horror, theatrically putting a hand to his chest. "You think I'm ordinary?"
"Yes. Boing, dull, average." Sherlock listed.
"Fine." Jim said in a jokingly hurt voice, standing up to leave. Sherlock laughed and pulled him back down on the bed, making him fall flat on his back next to him.
"I'm joking, you idiot." He laughed.
"I wasn't." Jim replied jokingly with a laugh, which received another playful slap.
"You better, or you're not getting this back." Sherlock said, reaching a file that was located on his windowsill and waving it in front of Jim. The smaller boy reached up, still on his back and snatched the file off of him, holding it in front of him to read it.
Sherlock watched him intently as he read, waiting for his reaction. He watched as Jim's eyes widened and his brows reached his hairline when reading the file. Muttering to himself constantly.
"Jesus, this is pretty clever, Sherlock." He muttered, his eyes running across the file.
"Pretty clever? I spent a lot of time on that..."
"Awfully clever I mean, but I think something acidic should be used to burn those documents. It'll be quicker and more efficient." He said, reaching his arm over to the bedside table to grab a pen and scribble extra notes onto the file. "See?" He continued with a grin. "Two great minds think alike."
Sherlock laughed. "So, was it intelligent enough for you?"
"It was genius, if I do say so myself. I'm not going to fire you anytime soon." He winked.
Sherlock lay down, resting on his elbows instead of lying flat on his back so he could look down at Jim.
"Good. You're not going to forget my payment, either?"
"Of course not, doofus. I remember everything."
Sherlock just raised an eyebrow at him. The two of them continued to discuss business, chatting away and challenging one another constantly. Not stopping until they started laughing about some joke that one of them had said, both of them lying down in fits of laughter until it died down. Once their laughter fizzled down into breathless chuckles, and then into a sudden silence, Sherlock's face was looking down at Jim's, and Jim was still flat on his back looking up at Sherlock.
As they fell into silence, Jim's gaze slid down to Sherlock's pink lips before looking at him again. The curly haired teen's breath quickened slightly, and he leaned in closer before Jim shook his head.
"No. Not now, soon." He said morosely.
"Hm, yes, you're right." He agreed with a slight awkward cough, and sat up. Jim followed and sat next to him with a small smirk. After another few second of silence, Jim reached up and enveloped Sherlock in a hug. It was so out of character, but it felt right and so he hugged him tightly, not wanting to let go.
"Soon, my dear boy." He whispered as Sherlock hugged him back hesitantly. "Soon."
