30 minutes later, Peter came rushing into the Avengers' common room, where Tony was sitting in an armchair, his arm over his eyes. Steve, Bucky and Sam were watching a movie, and Wanda was in the kitchen getting a drink. Wanda noticed him first.
"Hey P-" Peter cut her off before she could finish.
"Where is she?" he asked worriedly. Tony stood up quickly at the sound of his voice.
"Where is who?" Sam questioned curiously. Both men ignored his question as Tony led him back to the elevator. Curious, Wanda tried to follow the men, but the doors closed before she could. She returned to the kitchen, still curious about their interaction. Steve looked at her questioningly and she just shrugged, coming over to join them on the couches.
Tony and Peter quickly stepped off the elevator, and Peter ran to his room, Tony following slowly behind. Peter quickly opened the door but stopped at the sight of his best friend curled up on his bed. His heart broke at the sight. He considered waking you up but figured you could use the rest. He closed the door quietly, rubbing his face. He turned back to see Tony waiting quietly further down the hall. They shared a look and returned to the Avengers' common room silently. Tony was itching to ask if Peter had known what caused her breakdown.
As if Peter could read his mind, he stated, "I should have told her to stay home today."
"Why?" Tony questioned, but Peter just shook his head. He knew that you didn't like to talk about your mom with people you didn't know well. He trusted Stark but it was your choice who to tell.
The men returned to the common room and Tony returned to his previous spot. Peter sat on the floor leaning against the armchair, both men staying silent. The other 4 looked at them questioningly but left them alone due to their stoic faces.
Steve, Bucky and Sam had returned to watching the tv screen, but Wanda was watching Peter. She could feel strong emotions coming off of him, but she tried to block them out. Peter noticed her and gave her a small smile. She saw right through it though. She shook her head and Peter sighed. He pointed to his head, not wanting anyone else to question him.
It's [Y/N]. Peter thinks so Wanda can hear. Her eyes go wide and Peter continues.
She is sleeping right now, but she is in a lot of pain. I can't tell you why it's not my place. Please don't read her mind. She is really private about this.
Wanda nods sadly. She watches him for a while longer before returning her eyes to the TV.
20 minutes later...
You and your mom were sitting on a picnic blanket in your hometown back in Canada. It was fall and the leaves were changing colours and falling around you. Your head was resting in her lap while she ran her fingers through your hair. You remember that day. You were 13 and it was the day she told you that you were moving. But when you looked up at her, she looked different. Older almost, noticing wrinkles beside her eyes and deeper smile lines. She looked like what you imagined she would if she were still alive. She looked down at you, a sad smile on her face.
"I have missed you, baby girl," she said. She always called you that, even till her last day, even when you found it embarrassing. You reached up and cupped her check in your hand. You noticed your hand was bigger than when you were 13. On your finger was the ring your mother used to wear that you haven't taken off since her funeral. You looked down at yourself and realized that in this dream you were 20, not 13. You looked back up at her questioningly. She just smiled fondly at you. You sat up, moving to sit face to face with her. She watched your confusion lovingly.
