I came into the room and sat down on Sam's couch. He sat down on the bed for a moment before coming over to me.
"Alright, eager. What do you have for me?" He asked.
"So I talked to Kyle and he was going on and on about how he's upset about his ex wife and all this other stuff and-" He cut me off.
"Alright now slow down. You're talking way too fast. Now tell me slowly what happened."
I slowly and calmly explained to him what happened. He seemed really intrigued but then confused by the end.
"What does Kyle's personal life have to do with writing a hard hitting rock and roll song though?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes.
"Dude, are you deaf? He gets high to forget the hardships in his life and he's angry. That's some hard hitting stuff." I blurted.
"Ok shh. Let's think for a second. Taking that idea, what do we even call this song?" He asked
"Easy, "I Get High To Forget You" or "IGHTF"." I said.
"You thought of that in the hallway waiting for me to answer the door, didn't you?" He said sarcastically, chuckling to himself.
I nodded.
"I'm sorry I'm just excited, I've never really written music before so this is new for me and I'm excited." I said.
Sam nodded
"Understandably so."
Sam got up and turned on the AC in the room, I automatically felt like I was going to freeze to death.
"Jesus Christ, turn that off." I muttered.
"No why?" Sam complained
"It's fucking freezing in here, no. Cut it off, Sam."
I stood up and started walking over to the unit but he stepped in front of it.
"Are you insane?" I muttered.
"Here, stupid." He said throwing me his sweater that was on the back of the couch.
"This looks better on you than it does me." I chuckled.
"Not the point. Now let's get to writing" he said, sitting down on the couch.
We got a good portion of the writing done and I'll say, I was impressed. We threw together the old school emo song that Dave wanted so badly and I was so excited to play it for everyone.
*1 week later*
I woke up that tuesday morning and Sam came over to have some coffee with me before the day really got started. Today was the day that we were going to perform the new intro song for everyone. Nothing had really happened between Kyle and I other than the occasional flirtation. This whole feelings thing between us was complicated. He gave me one of his nice Ralph Lauren quarter zip sweaters and I kept it close to me, but that was it.
Sam seemed to be acting increasingly odd as the days went on. Two more people go eliminated per usual, it was someone named Roland and David Bell. David was injured along the way and kind of left on his own accord, but it was still sucky cause he was a great artist and Jime was somehow still here. Every time someone got sent home, Sam seemed to grow increasingly uncomfortable. Understandably because of the competition getting tighter, but he didn't have anything to worry about.
He began to grow distant from me, spending more time by himself or with Kelly. I didn't think much of it. Maybe he wanted to distance himself because I told him every detail of mine and Kyles encounters, and he didn't want to get in the way of that. I don't know. We were still friends, and ready to bang out this badass song for everyone that evening.
