Chapter 6
I was completely torn, and we were only two hours in.
The tattoo eventually was finished. I decided not to take Kyle's advice and I added a couple other bite marks next to the main one. It doesn't make sense for a zombie to bite only once. I added the extra two to make it look like the creature had been gnawing on this woman's head. She was happy with the tattoo, and so was Kyle. But I'd be lying if I said I was in love with it. I was so scared of messing it up and it kind of showed. Thankfully I added a few veins to maybe distract a little bit from the rest of the tattoo. I had to put on a fake smile and act all fake just to make the client happy.
Jime was walking around looking at everyone's work and when he got to us he seemed pretty impressed which was good, but the only opinion that mattered was the judge's opinion.
"You guys should get a load of Josh and Cameron's tattoo." Jime whispered.
"How come?" I asked.
"It looks like dirt! Neither of them can draw. It's honestly amazing, haha." Jime chuckled. That at least made me feel better.
We headed back to the loft and waited on our call to come and get critiqued. I was laying on the couch and falling asleep when Jason started poking around the loft and started freaking out over something stupid.
"Hey yo they got a Jager dispenser in here this shit's like a coffee machine!" He shouted.
Everyone jumped up except me and huddled over by the little machine to take a shot.
"Do you want any?" Kyle asked, crouching down in front of me. I shook my head.
"No, I feel sick. I'm exhausted and this challenge scared the hell out of me, man." I sighed.
Kyle didn't say anything, he just got up and got a drink with the others and left me alone. We hung around the loft for a little while longer until Oliver called us back. I heard some smack talking going down between Josh and some other people but I didn't want to hear it. I was too tired.
We eventually all headed down to the main room and stood in our line formation like normal. I didn't bother listening to anyone else's critiques except for Tatu Baby's. She got the worst tattoo of the day and I felt so bad. Her tattoo was a mermaid and it was beautiful, I would've loved to have that on my head, I don't know what the judges were so upset about.
"I loved your tattoo..." I whispered, placing a hand on her shoulder. She turned to me.
"Thank you honey, I'm glad someone appreciates it." She sniffled.
"I don't know why your canvas was so upset. I would've loved to have had that on my head." I said smiling to her sympathetically. She smiled but said nothing.
Mine and Kyle's tattoo got an okay critique. The judges didn't like the extra bites I put into the tattoo. They said it looked like the lady had been stepped on by a pair of Doc Martens rather than bitten after the first bite. They basically said I should've done the one bite and that was it. I wasn't super upset. I mean it wasn't a horrible critique. But I felt like I could've done better. I know I disappointed Kyle by not listening to him. I looked at him but he said nothing after we were sent back to our spots.
"Joshua!" Dave called out.
Oh boy, it was finally the asshole's turn. Josh's tattoo popped up on the screen and boy, was it ugly. I would be so embarrassed to have that on my head. It was supposed to be biomechanical but it looked like a giant metal swirl on the side of the poor guy's head. Josh go the one completely bald person out of the canvases and the poor guy couldn't even grow hair over it so that made it even worse.
