Friend groups of three are always tough. There's usually two of them that are closer than the other one. But when it came to our friendship, we never really did things like that.

Everything was equal.

Hi, my names Mak. My bestfriends are called Tilly and Daniel. Ever since we were 5 years old (and Daniel was 6) we've been inseparable.

Me and Tilly met first. It was all over something so stupid, but now that I look back on it, I find it hilarious.

It was my fifth birthday, but we'd planned a party at this party centre with fun things for kids to do. We'd booked it for the day after my birthday because I was busy on my actual birthday.

We showed up at the same time as another family. Tilly's. I immediately didn't like her. She had light blonde hair and gorgeous blue eyes.

I always felt uglier than her. I mean, let's face it. Tilly was the prettier one out of the two of us. She still is.

It turns out that her birthday was two days after mine and she's booked it the day before her birthday. But the people at the centre mixed up the bookings and gave us the same time.

There was this huge fight and even the little kids were involved.

I hated Tilly and decided she'd ruined my birthday. But after, our mums became close (they're best friends now). They kind of forced us to hang out.

It was awful at first, but we soon found out how much we had in common and we clicked. Ever since then Tilly's been my best friend. She knows all my secrets and I know all hers. She lives across the road from me, too, so it kinda works out for the best.

I don't know what I'd do without her.

Next we met Daniel. We met him before Tilly moved in across from me.

We were hanging out at the park when an ice cream truck pulled up. Me and Tilly were still 5 and Daniel had just turned 6.

Tills and I rushed up the van, and we were gonna get our favourite lolly of all time. It was bubblegum flavoured and it turned your tongue blue. But the best part- in the middle was a small plastic toy. Kind of like a mini McDonald's.

There was one person in front of us in the line- Daniel.

He ordered and got his lollipop. Funnily enough it was the same one as we were getting. But, a dark cloud settled over the van when the guy told us that Daniel had gotten the last one.

So me and Tilly, still 5 might I add, lunged at Daniel and stole his lollipop. I mean, he didn't stand a chance- it was me and Tilly. We knew each other's fighting techniques so we were amazing fighting together.

And then there was another huge fight with our parents when Daniels mum got annoyed at us. I mean, we kind of deserved it. Sorry I'm getting of topic... anyway.

Isn't it funny how I met both of my best friends through fights? Maybe fighting is good for that.

After we were made to apologise to Daniel, we hit it off and the three of us became our own weird version of the 3 musketeers.

Even our mums did too. In their own way.

A year later, Daniel moved in next door to me, so we were all living in close quarters. I always think how weirdly lucky that is.

Anyway, fast forward-

To give the short version, my and Tilly are now 15 (almost sixteen) and Daniel is 16.

My sister passed away from leukaemia, and Daniels dad died in a car accident when he was 12.

Luckily, we had each other to lean on.

Tilly has only lived with her mum her whole life, never anyone else. Except her dog, caramel.

I helped pick out that name.

We all go to the same school and have loads of classes together. We have lunch everyday, and after school hang out at our treehouse in the woods for an hour. Then we go back to my place.

I'm not sure why my house is the designated hang out spot, but it always has been. Kind of like a random decision we all made without realising.

Things have always been great between us, but as we got older... things started to change.
