There's gonna be swearing in this scene- just a warning!
"Ah, shit!" I shouted. I'd dropped my ice cream on the side of the road. My poor mint choc chip scoop!
"Dude, it's okay," Tilly said, laughing, "the cart is two minutes away. Let's just go back and get you another one."
"No... it's fine. I don't wanna walk back." I muttered.
And then a scoop of peppermint ice cream was in front of me. Daniel handed me his ice cream.
"Here, have some of mine. I'm not that hungry, anyway. But don't have the whole thing," he winked and laughed.
"Are you sure?" I asked. I turned to look at him and saw him smile.
"Seriously Mak, come on," he laughed, "it's the end of school. Today we need to be celebrating, I'm not letting you go off without ice cream."
I rolled my eyes. Damn, I guess they're good at persuading.
"Fine, fine. But don't complain when my tongues all over it!"
Daniel smiled, "please, when we first met, the two of you tackled and beat me. And you were really young! That's worse than you licking my ice cream."
Tilly turned around to face us and laughed. We all stopped on the pavement.
"Oh my god, I remember that! How we ended up as friends is beyond me," chuckled Tilly.
I took a few licks of the peppermint ice cream and we continued walking along the road. My house, and our treehouse behind it were only a few minutes away.
"Mak, stop! You've already eaten half the ice cream," murmured Daniel, "can I have it back now? I bought it."
I laughed and handed it back to him, "sure, here. But eat fast, we have celebratory food waiting in my fridge!"
"Thank god!" Tilly groaned, "I didn't eat lunch today, that cheesy broccoli pie was NASTY! I saw Jacob run into the bathroom. And he stayed in there for way too long."
"You think he threw up?" I asked, surprised.
Tilly laughed, "no way. Mak, he was in there for over half an hour. I'd say what he did was a little further down south that vomiting."
"Ewww, I'm trying to eat my ice cream here!" Daniel rolled his eyes and continued licking the only half eaten scoop.
"How are you still eating," asked Tilly, "I finished forever ago!"
We finally reached my door and walked in. As we took off our shoes my mum greeted us.
"Hi guys! Happy summerrrrr!" She shouted.
"Okay mum, we get it... wait! What are you eating? Are those my lemon cookies?"
My mum looked down at the plate with half a cookie on it. "Uhhh... yes. They were delicious."
I rolled my eyes and groaned, "mum! I made those for our celebratory sleepover tonight! We're sleeping in the treehouse. Didn't you see the sign in front of all the food I made?"
My mum looked down and back up at me. "Uhhhh... well if it makes you feel any better, honey, I left everything else."
"Whatever. Will you guys help me bring all the food and shit out to the treehouse," I asked, turning to Daniel and Tilly.
My mum gasped and shouted, "Mak!"
"What," I asked, "they've heard me swear before."
My mum turned to my best friends and gave them a questioning look.
"She does," they both said at once.
"See?" I said, shrugging. "Come on you guys, help me carry everything out."
"Ummm," Daniel looked at us seriously, "I'm eating my ice cream," he said, pointing a finger at his barely eaten ice cream cone.
"Daniel..." I started.
"Nope," he replied, walking out my back door with his bag, "I'll meet you out there!"
Tilly rolled her eyes and laughed, "god, what a dumb excuse not to help. Don't worry, Mak. I'll help you carry out all the 'food and shit'!"
We both laughed and carried all the stuff out.
Tonight was gonna be fun.
Pretty much no one is reading this which is sad but I really enjoyed writing it so it's okay!
