an: i'm starting a lot of new fanfics so this one may be updated less often, i promise i wont forget about it again though. if you want to check out my other works it would be appreciated but dont feel obligated to!

also, i took the fluff tag off this story since i'm thinking i might take it in a more serious direction. if youre not cool with that im sorry it was just getting kind of boring to write and i wanted to spice it up and give it more of a plot.

Kokichi turned back to look at Shuichi's car. He briefly considered running for it, getting in and driving away, but he knew his dad would just come back to get him later, and he'd be in even more trouble. He had to face the music now.

He stood as bravely as he could against the circumstances as the two approached him. The icy wind stung his face. Akari.. That little bitch, she tricked me, he thought to himself. How stupid he was to think that she was on his side.

But as they drew closer, he noticed something odd about her face. She... was crying? And his dad looked like he was dragging her by the arm. What was going on here?

Suddenly Akari ran forward, tearing away from their father's grasp and crashed into him, hugging him. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, Kokichi, I'm so sorry.."

"Whoa, uh.. mind telling me what's going on?" He whispered, patting her on the head before gently pushing her away.

"D-dad took my phone.. he read the messages.. He knows." She sniffled and looked up at him, her blue eyes were huge and her glasses sat crookedly on her face.

"Shit." He cursed under his breath before looking down at the young girl. She was acting so different from her usual self, Kokichi couldn't help feeling sorry for her. "Don't worry Akari, it wasn't your fault." He reassured her before stepping forward to face their father.

"Hey dad. I'm at the park just like I said. Did you just have to come and confirm it for yourself?" He said, hardly a trace of fear in his voice.

"Don't try and play dumb with me, boy." His father was on the skinnier side, but still managed to be incredibly intimidating. He had unkempt black hair and yellow eyes. He towered over the two kids in terms of height and gave the vibe of someone who wouldn't hesitate to scream at you if you did even the littlest thing wrong.

"Yeah yeah.. It was worth a try." Kokichi shrugged his shoulders, trying not to show how much he struggled to meet his father's eyes.

Suddenly, he grabbed Kokichi by the wrist and started marching back toward the parking lot on the other side of the park. "You're coming home. You're in big trouble, young man." Akari gasped and walked after them, wiping her tears eyes on her sweater sleeve. Kokichi looked back at Shuichi's car and noticed Shuichi was staring at him. He gave a half-hearted smile and made the "call me" sign with his free hand. Shuichi winced, but nodded, knowing nothing he could do right now would make things any better.

Back in the car, Shuichi watched helplessly as Kokichi was dragged away toward the other side of the park. He sat in the car for a while, replaying what he had just saw in his mind, wondering if there was anything he could do, anything he could've done. Now Kokichi would have to go home and face who knows what and there was nothing Shuichi could do about it.

That night Shuichi didn't eat any dinner, much to his mom's concern. "Shu, is something wrong?" She tilted her head to the side as she looked at his untouched plate.

"Oh, nothing. I'm just tired." He replied, not wanting to concern her.

Shuichi's mom saw through it, but didn't press the issue any further, ending the conversation with a sigh as she put his dinner in the fridge.

When he was sure she had left the room, he ran up to his bedroom and grabbed his phone from his nightstand, frantically clicking on his contact. "C'mon.. pick up pick up pick up.." he repeated under his breath as it rang.

    *Click* "Hello?"

"Kichi!! Thank goodness you're okay. What happened-"

"Just kidding! This is my voicemail. Betcha fell for it, idiot. Leave a message, or don't, I don't care." *beep*

Shuichi threw his phone at the wall and collapsed on his bed, letting out an exasperated sigh and burying his head in his hands. "God damn it Kokichi,  why do you have to do this to me.."

He reluctantly grabbed his phone from next to him on the bed and opened youtube. He put on some gaming videos that were easy to fall asleep to and attempted to forget about his nervousness. Somehow it worked, and after a little bit sleep finally overcame him.

At four in the morning he woke up to his phone going off from a text message. He picked up his phone and squinted as his eyes adjusted to the brightness.

"One message from Kichi💜:

Kichi💜 is now sharing their location."
