The days have been passing at the speed of light for Win.

Not.

The days are slow.

Too slow, to be honest.

He is far done with his initial solo flight. Win is also done with six out of eight exams a Student Pilot is required to have in order to attempt for their Private Pilot Licence test. However, the main problem is the flying bit.

He hasn't flown in exactly 18 days now. He has had more than 14 flights cancelled in the last 18 days. And the only factor to blame is the "weather".

The weather has been particularly shitty the past few weeks. It feels like the clouds are playing some ridiculous game of hide and seek with him. His instructor New had him booked specifically in the morning slots starting from six until eight, given that, right after sunrise, the weather is supposedly the best in comparison to the entire day.

That's all false news though.

The weather has been really rough on him. Everday he wakes up around the same time; four in the morning, prepares all the necessary paper work for the flight, walks down to the school, just to return home dissapointed and extremely drained.

After the initial solo flight, the students are required to build a few more solo hours around the circuit. The same procedure follows. They need to give their instructor a minimum of three good takeoff and landings, and given that the instructors are satisfied with your performance, they will then send the Student Pilot to fly alone. But this time it will be more than just one landing. Which usually depends on the student's comfort, the instructors decision or the time factor.

As fun and thrilling as solo sounds, it has a big added disadvantage. A new pilot can however fly in worst weather with their instructors by their side, but solo students require absolute best weather— with wind being less than 10 knots, a visibility of 10km or more, a cloud base higher than the altitude they fly in and many to add. Afterall, it is considering the safety factor. Solo students are new to flying alone and despite having their instructors monitor them from the tower, they are the sole occupants of the aircraft. If anything was to go wrong, they will have to deal with it all alone!

If in the sad case that they aren't able to do it, things can quickly turn south. And, this isn't airforce where you have a parachute to eject when conditions get extremely out of hand.  In General aviation, alot of accidents or incidents are seen to have occured during one's solo phase. So as gripping as it sounds, it is a very careful matter which requires cautious handling. So, instructors and schools are usually very strict about this rule.

Unarguably, the weather has been way off the stated limits for Win to fly. Someday, it's the clouds, sometimes it rains, but mostly the wind is to blame. Then to add insult to the injury, the weather sometimes becomes awfully perfect right after the completion of his slot.

So, that has been Wins's life the past few days. He gets to attend a few classes, but with no luck at flying whatsoever. The only bright side to this is that with no training, he has been able to pull off a few more hours at the restaurant. His bills have been piling up, and he was barely making a living. By the end of each month, all he could afford was a box of cereal and a few other discounted food. Even Ramen seems like a rich delicacy at the moment. Fong, Ohm and Phuak are doing no better. All seem run down and exhausted all the time. Pear, whose family had very nicely denied even the mere thought of having their daughter work while stuyding has been of great help though. She offered them good and actual food from time to time.
