Chapter 6: Fall

(3rd Person POV)

After what happened at the end of the last Double's match which was between Team RCST and Team CRSL, Dairoku after collapsing and coughing up blood, was rushed to the schools infirmary, accompanied by his team, RWBY and JNPR. Dairoku was put into a medical bed as the nurse hooked up a machine to him to try and figure out what happened with him. His friends and teammates looked really worried for him, especially Ruby, Pyrrha and Celeste. None of them have ever seen Dairoku collapse like that. Ruby and Celeste were both by his side, holding his hands while Pyrrha stood with the rest, rubbing her arm.

A sigh of frustration caught the attention of everyone as the nurse turned from the machine to look at them; she dawned an expression of confusion and frustration.

Weiss: Did you find anything wrong with him?

Nurse: *frustrated sigh* Nothing. I keep getting the same result which is absolutely nothing. Whatever happened to him can't be picked up by the machine.

Ren: That doesn't seem right.

Yang: Yeah what would cause him to suddenly cough up blood like that and collapse?

Pyrrha: It's the first time I've seen him like this...

Kuraime: Same here... If I had to guess, I'd say he's exhausted from that battle but it doesn't explain why he coughed up blood.

Tyros: Hmm... Maybe Barbatos did this to him?

Everyone looked at Tyros confused.

Blake: How so? The two times he used it before didn't cause this.

Jaune: Yeah and don't forget when he went all... spiky when he almost killed Cardin.

Ruby had nothing to say and continued looking at Dairoku as her mouth trembled and Tyros just sighed.

Tyros: I...

???: I'm afraid you're correct Mr. Belladonna.

Everyone immediately turned to the door alarmed, to see Ozpin.

Everyone: Professor Ozpin?

Ozpin walked into the room and stood next to Dairoku. He gently put his hand on the unconscious phoenix's forehead as if checking for a fever.

Ozpin: This actually isn't the first time this has happened to Mr. Rein; it was the second.

Nora: What do you mean?

Ozpin: Barbatos, The Beast of Vengeance... The first time Mr. Rein had awakened Barbatos, he had suffered a major headache and he coughed up quite a bit of blood. What happened to him just now was just him getting lucky.

Yang: What!?

Kuraime: We never noticed!

Jaune: Why would he keep something so serious from us!?

Pyrrha: He didn't want us to worry... Dairoku puts everyone before himself so he doesn't bring anyone down because their worrying about him...

Tyros: It's the same reason why he hid his emotions when his father died, so that you all wouldn't worry, so that he could support Celeste to the fullest.

Everyone went quiet, looking at the unconscious winged Faunus with mixed emotions; happiness that he cared that much about them but also anger that he'd be so selfless that he'd forget to take care of himself. After being quiet for a long time, Ruby finally spoke.

Ruby: Professor Ozpin...?

Ozpin: Yes Ms. Rose?

Ruby: What is actually happening to Dairoku...?
