Part 1

And I'd give up forever to touch you

Cause I know that you feel me somehow

Chapter 1 – A Night of Reflections

He had used this telescope so many times to see the girl next door, to just watch her breath and smile. She had been the very definition of beauty. Even Lord Byron had known of her very existence, decades before she had come into being. He had written of her.

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies

And all that's best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes:

Thus mellow'd to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies..........

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of the days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

Now that beauty would never be seen again. The sun's rays would never touch any like that, so innocent and pure. For Clark there was none that would ever grace the earth or the universe that would compare to her. Clark took in a long breath and exhaled it slowly, while pushing his fingers through his thick hair. He stood at the loft window and continued to gaze at the stars. He could hear her voice so vividly in his mind as it took him back years before.

"Clark there is a shooting star, quickly make a wish," she watched him as he closed his eyes and his lips moved.

"What did you wish for?" she asked excitedly

"That you and me would be together forever," he looked at her face sincerely as if trying to memorize feature on it.

"You are not supposed to tell me," she slapped his arm and looked horrified.

"Then why did you ask me."

"Lana I wish that you were here today. I trained so hard with Jor-El, so that I could come back to you. I wanted to be the best that I could be for you and to fulfill my destiny. I see you everywhere. Smallville is you. The memories are beautiful, but the pain just won't go away. I love you Lana til the universe falls apart and even beyond that."

She had been so timeless. Exquisite in all ways, love manifested into flesh. What had Chloe called her – the very embodiment of all that was good and pure. He could feel his eyes well up again and the rage and anger come with the tears. He wanted to burn down a million buildings, punch through mountains and he would have if he had thought that it would ease the pain even a little.

"Son?"

Jonathan had stood and watched his son for the last ten minutes before making his presence known. He knew that there was only one reason his son would be here at 3:15am on this particular day. His heart was also torn as he thought of the dark haired girl that had been a daughter to him for two years before her death. He would never be able to tell Clark the whole truth. He would never be able to talk about that day again, not even to his beloved Martha. He tried not to relive it in his own mind.
