'Miss Hawkins!' Madam De La Inne screeches looking down at my under her old circle glasses laid low on her nose and bunch of marked French essays we did handing them out 'uh- yes, um, sorry madam' I scramble from my sleeping position taking my test, I give her an un-easy smile as she shakes her head at me and walks off. 'I vill be having a serious word vith your father about this if it carries on' she says in the bitchiest french accent ever - if that's possible. Great. All I need is a letter back to my parents saying I'm failing at school, what is she even talking about anyway? I sigh turning round to look at my essay, I scramble around looking for the grade when I realise exactly what she's talking about. I come across a big, un missable...
F!!
I got an F?! An actual freaking F! I tried so hard on this test! I mean I revised all night and got an F, in fact I think I even cheated on this test and I still got an F!! 'You okay?' Kirsti mouths to me looking concerned, I sneak a glance at her paper, she got a B. I unsurely nod and then point my finger hard at Madam De La Inne and then holding up my paper carelessly and pulling a 'ffs' face, Kristi looks at me with a sympathetic face, sort of disappointed, and I immediately turn away facing the board. I've been given that sympathetic sorrow look from too many people, when my parents broke up that was the only look I ever got from people, and even now that my dad acts like a teenager and I don't know where the hell my mum is I get it a lot, I just tend to be a person that people feel sorry for I guess? And I hate it, I hate it. A lot.
'Hey, guys' I sigh sitting down at the lunch table still moody about the fact it's Monday and my french essay, holding my salad, 'ooh look at you, all healthy' Elena smirks. I give a weak smile, 'Honestly' she says toying around with her food 'I don't know how you do it' then there's one of those awkward silences, 'right girls?' She says annoyed that she didn't get a response, then weirdly enough, everyone's talking about my diet. Great. 'Ooh look, there's your hottie boyfriend' some girl across the table smirks at me glancing over at Zach hanging with his rugby team. 'You guys got back together?' Kristi raises her eyebrows. 'Yeah, ages ago' I say awkwardly, then when I thought the diet conversation was weird enough, suddenly they are all talking about how hot Zach is, how awkward? 'I think I'm done.' I say sternly and leave the table with my tray - I can't handle this anymore. And then everyone goes silent again as Kristi and Elena run after me, 'wait wait! We're sorry, we didn't realise that we shouldn't talk about him when you- you guys- are.. Yeah' Kristi goes off. 'Yeah, and plus, we didn't realise you were so over protective about him!' Elena says with a fierce play tiger look on her face. What is she trying to do? Because if she's on some suicide mission right now then it's working, because I am this close to stabbing my salad fork right into her beady little brown eyes. Elena's my best friend, I get that, but she also loves to piss me off and she's got that mean sarcasm look that makes me feel terrible. I give Elena a serious look and then turn around and strut off, leaving Elena and Kristi in such an awkward position, meanwhile I'm feeling like a boss after a I just slayed their asses!
Later that day on a sunny afternoon after school I saw Zach - alone - trust me, he's never alone, always with some of his mates and I never get to properly speak to him, so I take my chance (it could be the only one I get in a long time) and I sprint up to him. 'Heyy' he smiles, 'Hi' I reply in a sheepish voice as we hug and again, everything per-
'Hey man!' And immediately Zach lets go of me as his 'great mate' Noah jogs over. 'Hey dude what's up!' Zach laughs back. What? Why does he seem more excited to see him than me? What has this world turned into.. Then Noah's smile fades as he sees me, 'Emily..' He nods awkwardly, it's strange, Noah I've seen around my whole life, but for some reason he acts really awkward around me, like he's hiding something from me? Yet still annoyed at him for inturupting mine and Zach's moment I reply in a irritated tone 'Noah' I say sighing. 'Anyway, I gotta go but catch up soon?' He says turning to Zach, and then he turns back to me 'you too' he mutters and jogs off patting Zach on the back. 'Awkward?' Zach pulls a face looking at me after a bit. I let out an un easy smile and he pulls me back into a hug 'it's improving though' he says with a shrug kissing the top of my head as I rest on his strong broad chest breathing in the crispy air, 'but, I have to because that is my brother inside the car over there' I say turning towards Jack's silver Pajero, 'alright' he says with a laugh letting me go.'Saw that' Jack smirks as I get in the car, 'So? Didn't know having a boyfriend was a crime?!' I say squinting my eyes, 'nah, just thought I'd make things awkward by saying that' he says facing the window with a shrug.
5:35 pm, I open my laptop and flop onto my cosy little bed after a warm bath with my new rose flavoured bath bomb, 2 new messages.
