Princess Crimson
December 4, 1806
10:19 pmAfter I decided to hide at Nesryn's house, I thought I wouldn't be able to rest but as soon as I laid down in bed, I immediately fell asleep. I couldn't believe what had happened. Or what will happen . . . Who was that tall guy anyway? The same question bugged my mind: Why did my father make a contract with an evil magician? What was the contract all about and why was he giving me away? And if He was able to kill my father so easily, what was he going to do with me?
I had woken up, still feeling a little drowsy. My mind filled with the memories of yesterday. All I knew was that I had to get up. And that I needed to come up with a plan in order to not get caught. I need to find Nesryn to tell her that I have to leave. I can't tell her but I can't stay either. This secret would bring her in danger. I left the room and wandered the house, searching for Nesryn.
"Nesryn!" I called out absentmindedly. As I walked into the library, I saw the moon and stars through the window. Why is it already dark outside? How long did I sleep? And why hasn't Nes woke me up? I realize that Nesryn is behind me calling my name, I must've zoned out.
"Earth to Crimson?" Once she has my full attention, she continues. "Sorry, I didn't want to startle you, sleepy head. I mean, who would have thought you'd be able to sleep for twenty four hours straight? Eighteen years on this planet and already lazy as fuck." She laughs. God, I already miss her laugh. Nesryn always cheered me up and she did this time too, but I think that made me even sadder. I knew that I had to leave her. "What's wrong, baby? You shouldn't be sad during your birthday week. You have fifty one other weeks to be sad so don't take this week!"
"No, Nes. It's nothing you should worry about." A lie. "Listen, there is something I do need to tell you."
"No need to say more, I know exactly what will cheer you up!"
"No, I-" Nesryn cuts me off.
"I don't take 'no' for an answer, sweety, so stop trying." She smiles slyly. "First things first: you need to change your outfit. I don't even know why you wear so much black. You don't want to rob a bank, do you?" I give a small smile while glaring at her. "Sorry, but you are dressed as if you would." She grabs my arm and pulls me to her closet. Maybe I can stay with Nesryn for a little longer. Maybe she can distract me from what I've been through. Telling her isn't an answer. I could crawl into a hole and cry my eyes out. But what if I just want to forget? Nesryn pulls me out of my thoughts. ". . . And I'm giving you my hottest clothes for that." Let's try to forget, only for one night.
I go through her closet and decide on a large, puffy, baby pink dress which is also off the shoulders. I come out of her closet and spin to show off the dress.
"Look who's looking like a total snack now." Nesryn playfully flirts. "This is way better than your burglar outfit."
"Burglar outfit?" I smile. "I was going undercover. But what are we going to do now with these outfits?"
