You walked into the restaurant beside Spencer and fidgeted with your hands as he confirmed your reservation. You didn't go to these places a lot, you could barely afford rent with what you got from the café. You didn't bother taking money from the people 'involved' in your operation, you couldn't. Even if you did, you would never use it.

You forgot how awkward first dates could be. Your mind wandered to the many different ways of how you might bore or annoy him. You wiped your sweaty palms on your dress before jerking your hands away from it and locking your fingers together so you stopped toying with them. You looked up and saw that Spencer had reserved a place out on the terrace. He took your hand and walked over to the table, then went behind your seat and pushed it out.

You almost wanted to cry, but shook it off and sat down in the chair. You watched as he went around to the other side and took a seat on his own. Man did that suit look good on him. After pushing his own chair in, he looked up at you, smiling after noticing you staring at him.

You blushed before looking down at the table cloth. Thankfully a waiter arrived with your menus so you could hide your face behind the large trifold laminated paper. Your eyes scanned the menu, your heart cracked at the prices. Who the hell was eating spaghetti for 70 bucks? Just make it yourself you rich bastards.

You saw Spencer put down his menu and got anxious, wanting to decide quickly so you two could order. Neither of you had spoken since sitting down, and you wondered what he was thinking. Did he regret asking you out? Were you boring him? You knew you shouldn't have agreed to this date.. oh but he was just too handsome to decline.

You flinched as you felt a hand on yours. You looked up at Spencer and trailed your eyes down to your hands, noticing his on top of them. You smiled. "Take all the time you need. If you need any help choosing I'm right across you." He said, squeezing your hand and giving you a sweet chuckle.

You nodded before calming your breath, it was gonna hurt ghosting him. He was so sweet and respectful, that kind of guy was hard to find these days, or maybe you just weren't looking hard enough.

A waiter came by, asking you and Spencer if you were ready to order. Spence looked at you with a raised eyebrows. You nodded and he looked back at the waiter, giving him his order. He had ended up ordering chicken carbonara, you weren't even sure you knew what that was. The waiter had turned to look at you and you almost froze. You shook yourself out of it before you embarrassed yourself.

"Um - I think I'll get the - uhhh - spaghetti and meatballs?" You spoke nervously. The waiter nodded, jotting it down before asking you if you wanted parmesan cheese, you nodded your head yes. Spaghetti and meatballs? Seriously, you sound like a little kid Y/N. Weren't you just ripping at people for ordering spaghetti? If you can't beat them, join them I guess.

"Oh! Can we get a bottle of '74 red wine? Your finest please." Spencer added. The waiter had finished writing our order down before walking back inside the restaurant and presumably to the kitchen.

Their finest wine? What did Spencer even work as, he said he got a PhD in chemistry so he's probably a chemist, but what do they even do? You didn't want to ask, worried about coming off as stupid. He got his PhD at 21 after all, you two had to be complete opposites.

"How long have you worked at the café?" He asked, breaking the silence. His soft wavy hair hanging over his forehead and blocking his eyes from your view. You wanted to reach over and place it behind his ear but didn't want to be creepy.

"Two and a half years I believe. It's never too packed which is nice. We don't usually get a lot of newcomers. What made you decide to come to a different shop to get your tea? Assuming you used to go to other places of course."
