"First day of school Bean!" Pearl said as Bean walked down the white spiral staircase.
"Yipee" She replied blandly as she walked out the front door.
It was still pretty early and she didn't have to be at school for at least another hour. Bean went to bed late every night and woke up early every day. She had insomnia. Bad insomnia. Getting only a few hours sleep every night meant she had very prominent eyebags. She didn't mind though, she liked them. She got on her red bike (she cycled everywhere) , lit a cigarette, put in her earphones and started to ride aimlessly in the general direction of school. As she rode down the quiet streets of collinsville she noticed the postman, an old man walking his dog and a group of teenage boys staring at her whilst as she cycled past. Bean was used to people staring. She was pretty and she knew it. And she was wearing a cool outfit as usual.
She stopped when she saw a coffee cup and 'coffee o'clock' depicted on a swinging dainty white sing. She scoffed at it's unoriginality.
"An ice coffee with oat milk please"
Bean looked out the window as she waited for her coffee. She noticed a tall boy with olive skin and brown curtains skate pass.
"Order number 54"
Bean collected her order and walked back outside. Coffee in hand, she was getting onto her cherry coloured bike when she saw the boy again, now crossing the street. There was something familiar about him. As he got closer they made eye contact. Both looking at each other with the same 'Do I know you from somewhere? expression'. They maintained eye contact as he walked into the same café she had just bin in.
