Sleepy mornings were always my favorite.

Feeling the sleepy detective's arms wrapped around my waist and his soft breath against my neck. It was something so intimate, so sweet. I couldn't handle sweet gestures in public, they never failed to embarrass me, but I loved them in the comfort of my own home.

Shuichi's sleeping face was another one of my favorite things. So calm and peaceful. He always looked so stressed when he was awake. I would love to have a word with his boss, it wasn't fair that my darling had so much work piled on him because so many others in the department were incompetent.

With inching movements, I turned in my lover's grasp so that I was now facing him.

His long lashes casted little shadows over his pale cheeks and his plush lips were parted slightly. His navy hair was slightly messy from tossing and turning, attempting to get comfy last night, but it didn't make him look any less celestial.

To this day, I will never fully comprehend why he chose me out of everyone. I figured after we escaped with the scars that cruel killing game had placed upon us, he would never be willing to form such a strong, romantic relationship. Especially not someone he survived it with. I always assumed it would serve as a constant reminder of the stress and pressure put on him, but I guess not.

My hands found their way to his cheeks, gently caressing the soft skin and beginning to trace over the shadows.

He really was beautiful. I could hardly find a flaw in his physical appearance.

The only thing that could possibly make him look even more gorgeous was if he opened those golden eyes of his that never failed to leave me breathless. He was such a tease at times, perhaps even without really knowing it. He always made sure to connect his eyes with mine no matter what we did. Even just thinking of his gaze connecting with mine had my cheeks warming. It's pathetic really, how quickly I could turn to putty in his hands whenever he gazed into my soul, but I couldn't help it!

Almost as if he could hear my thoughts, the detective began to stir and slowly opened his eyes. I wanted to tell him to go back to sleep, that I would get up and start cooking breakfast, but his half awake form was just so endearing.

Tired eyes scanned the room before quickly falling back onto me, a lazy smile tugging on his lips. "G'morning Keebo," he whispered, voice slurred and raspy with sleep.

"Good morning Shuichi," I replied, returning his sweet smile.

Sitting up on his elbow, he started leaning in toward my face. I knew he wanted a kiss and as sweet as that would be, morning breath kisses...weren't exactly the nicest thing. So, I gently placed my finger to his lips, chuckling at his confused face. "Let's brush our teeth first, then you can get your morning kiss."

He pouted, but with a sigh, sat up fully and tossed the blanket off of him with a grumpy 'fine'. I was quick to follow him into the bathroom where we both began brushing our teeth, my head resting on his shoulder, and his head resting against mine as we tried to adjust our sleepy eyes to the morning light.

As soon as our teeth were brushed to perfection and we were cleaned up, Shuichi hugged around my waist and nuzzled into my shoulder, not even letting me leave the bathroom yet. "Now can I have my kiss?" He asked.

Who was I to deny his request?

Once he had my approval, the navy haired boy was quick to pull his head away and connect his sweet lips with mine. He smelled and tasted like toothpaste, which wasn't necessarily unpleasant.

Kisses like this were always slow and sweet. You could feel every emotion he poured into it, every unspoken word he wanted to say.

That was another thrilling thing about Shuichi, he was much more a person of action over words. Every kiss had a different meaning. I could taste the emotion whenever he pressed his lips to mine.

There are hard and rough kisses, ones leaving my lips bruised and is both embarrassed in the morning. The passion in those ones had my head spinning, he didn't have to tell me to let me know that he was frustrated, whether from work or from an unwarranted touch from another person towards me. They always reminded us that we were one and nothing would break that bond.

There were slow pecks in the dead of night, more about the intimacy of being in each other's presence rather than the kiss. Those would happen whenever he was upset or awoke from a nightmare. I could feel the sadness on those lips, and I was always there to remind him that I would be his rock, I would help him lift the heavy burden placed on him.

Then there were ones like these. Sweet ones that just scream "I love you".

My hands, once idle at my side, found their way into his messy hair, tousling it up even more. The vibration of his chuckle against my lips caused me to smile.

The arms around my waist eventually hoisted me up, causing a quiet gasp to escape my lips as my arms quickly clung to his form. Now it was his turn to laugh again. "Sorry, I should have warned you first. I guess training with Maki has really helped. I can do this with ease now." With a teasing smile, he carried me back into the bedroom, flopping down backwards, leaving us both in a fit of giggles.

With his hand now rubbing circles in my back, I rested my head on his chest, listening to the rhythmic beating of his heart. A comfortable silence overcame us, our soft breaths mingling and leaving a fuzzy feeling in the air. It wasn't enough to guide me back into sleep, but it did well in keeping me rooted in my place next to Shuichi.

I eventually closed my eyes, just enjoying the comforting presence of my favorite detective.

Sleepy mornings are always my favorite.
