Last Smile

Smiling , we stood , eyes sparkling in the sunlight , this was only a week ago. In the park in the field where beautiful flowers covered the ground and butterflies circled us.

Hands, I was holding your hand , I looked into your eyes, as blue and full of light as always . I let your hand slip slowly from mine . I took a few steps forward, looked around , bees were buzzing  , clouds full and puffy , sky bright and blue . It's a beautiful day don't you think ? What could possibly be wrong. With the smell of spring in the air birds chirping in the distance. I looked down I was standing on a ledge , so far down . A river flowed through the trees below me.

Eyes , we looked in each others eyes , as I took a few more steps your eyes filled with fear and tears. I could tell you were screaming but I could not hear you my thoughts drowned out all other noise. I smiled at you one last time , a single tear drop fell down my cheek , I took one last step. I caught one last glimpse of your face as I took my last step leading me down, down , down the ledge , why weren't you happy ? I would be free now , free of all worries and poisonous thoughts eating me alive. I would finally be happy , that's what you said right , you wanted me to be happy ? Just let me be free let me be happy in my own little world now . I hope there's still butterflies where I'm going and I hope one day I'll get to see your beautiful eyes again. Wherever I'm going , I'll have peace now . I'm better off , you'll probably realize you're better off without me too. Just let me go there's nothing left you can do , you can't save me now . It's too late . Let me go I'm as free as a bird now . May we look in each others eyes again one day . I love you
