2 - tough nights

it was tough. bad had found sapnap alone in the nether a little less than a month ago, and he was still adjusting to taking care of such a unique baby. even the normal baby chores of making sure he's properly fed and cared for was hard enough. only recently discovering the small baby's quirk with fire, he was even more distressed than usual.

he sat with sapnap cradled in his arms, holding a bottle to his lips as he struggled to stay awake. there were instances where the devilish little kid would burn the plastic of the bottle and begin to cry when the fire alarm would start going off. bad had to be careful, not trying to excite or aggravate him in anyway.

bad cared a lot for sapnap, despite the short amount of time of knowing him. even if he was hard to care for, the tired man knew this was worth it. he wanted to raise the small baby to be healthy and happy. he wanted to see him become a successful person doing what he loves.

so as he held the bottle up and rocked sapnap gently, he struggled to keep his eyes from falling shut. hearing the door creak open snapped him awake, turning his head carefully to see skeppy peaking in with a sleepy face.

"are you doing alright in here?" skeppy whispered loud enough to not wake the baby, tiptoeing his way to bad's side.

"yeah, little sapnap is just hungry,,, and i'm just a little tired." bad replied drowsily, struggling to give the diamond man a reassuring smile. skeppy felt awful seeing bad so exhausted. he cared a lot for sapnap, and always insisted that skeppy go ahead and sleep while he takes care of the baby at night. he was such an amazing dad, anyone could see the patience and love he had for sapnap.

"hey, bad, you can rest your head on my shoulder and rest for a second, alright? i'll make sure sapnap is fed and doesn't get upset." skeppy pressed a gentle kiss against bad's temple as he watched the demonic man ponder.

"are you sure? skeppy, i wouldn't want to keep you from sleeping, i can handle this, but if you-"

"bad, i've got it, you can rest now, okay? you won't have to worry." skeppy pulled the tired dad's head onto his shoulder and carefully slid baby sapnap onto his lap to finish feeding him. it wasn't even a few seconds later until skeppy heard bad's breathing slow.

finishing the bottle, he placed it on a nearby bed stand. he watched as sapnap reached for his finger, grabbing tight with his tiny hands while softly babbling to himself. skeppy felt his heart grow soft. he felt so tender, and all he desired at that moment, was to make sure that sapnap was protected. this baby was so special, not only to bad, but to him as well.

"hey, sap,," the baby was gnawing on his finger now, "i'll take care of you. bad and i will make sure you're happy." he murmured, using his free hand to gently sweep the tuffs of hair out of his face. oh, how he hoped this fiery little one knew how much bad and him cared.

noticing sapnap yawn, he held him close and wrapped the scarf that bad would usually wear around his body. humming a soft lullaby that used to help him sleep when he was a little kid, he watched as the baby drifted peacefully off to sleep.

with a content smile, skeppy rested his head atop of bad's and close his eyes, joining the both in their sleepy dreams.
