Eric stopped the car and the trio stepped out. His eyes went wide as he took in the sight of the huge building in front of them.
"Wow. This is huge. " He whistled.
"Yeah. Well,we can have the time to admire it later." Daniel retorted indifferently. He wore a black hoodie and navy blue jeans. His signature crossbow was held at his right hand. Glancing at his watch, the time read 1:30AM.
"Alright, this is it." Eric said. He pulled out a shot gun and cocked it,a serious gaze crossing his face as he stared at the mansion.
" We've gone through our plans and I know no one is having second thoughts."He stared at the other two.
Daniel nodded. However, Annabelle who had been quiet throughout the ride to the place, said nothing.
"Babe?" Daniel turned to her. " What's wrong?"
"Honestly, I'm just having a strange feeling.Something just doesn't feel right." She sighed, running her hand through her hair. She wasn't a stranger to sudden intuitions but this one was way too strong. Something was amiss but she couldn't put her finger on it.
"Come on,Ann. I told you before. Everything is going to be fine." Daniel smiled warmly and took her hands in his. Leaning forward,he planted a small kiss on her lips.
"I said it before and I'll say it again." He leaned his forehead against hers. "None of us will die today. Okay?"
"Okay." She smiled. Daniel couldn't help but notice the strain behind the smile. She was still sceptical. But he was going to keep his word. That was very much guaranteed. He smiled inwardly as the thought of him telling her 'I told you so' after the anticipated triumph crossed his mind.
"Now that we're done with the unnecessary act of romance, can we get this over with?" Eric rolled his eyes. He was getting impatient now and the thought of annihilating some vampire scum only heightened it. He wanted action, not mush.
Daniel frowned at him but he knew he was right. They were wasting time.He released Annabelle's hands and the two walked over to Eric.
"Before we proceed, is there anything we're forgetting?" Eric asked.
"No." Annabelle replied.
" I don't think so." Daniel replied. He spared a glance at the moon. It wasn't full yet. He let out a sigh of relief. But he couldn't help but worry at the same time. As much as he hated his curse,it was still much needed to destroy Luke once and for all. Sparing a glance at Eric and Annabelle, he smiled. With these two as backup, perhaps there was a bit of chance.
"Good. Now let's...." Eric began.
The ground below them suddenly shook, startling them. It was just for a few seconds and then it stopped.
"What the hell was that?!!" Daniel cried out as he regained his balance.
"I don't know. But that was freaky." Annabelle replied as she looked around. Eric narrowed his eyes. After a while, there was silence.
"That was crazy." Eric muttered. "Now let's..."
He was cut off again as the ground shook again. All of a sudden, blue light glowed from beneath the ground and engulfed the three. When the light disappeared, so did the three of them. There was no one in sight. All that was left in front of the mansion....was Eric's car.**********
Annabelle grunted as she flew out of a blue glowing circle in the air and landed roughly on the ground. Groaning in pain, she slowly stood up and discovered to her shock that she was alone. And she was in a room.A very small room.
" What the hell?" Her eyebrows rose as she tried to look around.
"Annabelle?" Two voices called simultaneously behind her. She turned around to see the chained forms of Jake and Tomiwa.
"Guys?" She squealed as excitement crossed her face. She moved towards them. Her eyes went wide as she saw Jake's bruised state. Blood trickled out of his mouth.
"Jake?" She muttered softly. " Who did this?"
" That would be me,darling." A chuckle came from behind her. Quickly at alert, she turned around just in time for a punch to land on her face. The impact sent her across the room, and crashing backfirst against the wall. She struggled and got to her feet then adjusted her vision just in time to see Chris advancing menacingly towards her...
************
Eric let out a groan as he picked himself off the floor after a terrible landing. He shook his head to clear off a head bump and quickly accessed his situation. He was alone and in what seemed to be some kind of passageway. The only source of light were some low energy bulbs above.
"Daniel? Annabelle?" He called out. There was no response.
"Great." He muttered. " Could this day get any worse?"
Just then he heard footsteps around the corner. With the way the ground trembled excessively, it meant there were a group of people coming his way.
" Typical.Of course,it could. " He grumbled as the footsteps drew nearer. Before long, the other end of the passageway was occupied with a group of vampires. They were about eight in number and they all stared at him with murderous gazes as their eyes glowed red.
"Well,it's about time." He smiled as he pulled out his gun from his trenchcoat. The advancing vampires paused at the sight of his actions. They stared at him for a while before sporting amused grins on their faces.
"So." Eric tightened his hold on the gun. "Who dies first?"
That statement was all it took. The vampires screamed in fury as they all charged towards him. With a shake of his head, he rapidly fired his gun towards them. Their piercing screams were echoed as wooden bullets penetrated each of them. Each shot of his gun hitting the target. They all collapsed and burnt into ashes. Eric sighed and put his gun away.
"Well, that was too easy." He muttered. " And boring. The only positive was that they didn't come at me one by one. That would have been too predictable."
"Of course, it would have." A deep chilling voice resonated behind him. Eric's eyes went wide as he quickly turned around just in time to discover Razor standing mere inches away from him.Thinking quickly,he reached into his coat but Razor kicked him right in the gut. Eric cried out in shock as the hit sent him few feet away. He landed back first to the ground, clutching his abdomen in pain.
" You see that's the thing about chess." Razor smiled darkly as he walked towards Eric's crouched form. Stopping by the latter's head,he looked downwards and gave him a blank stare.
"Pawns always go first." He growled as the blood began to flow to his eyes.**********
Daniel could not believe current dilemma. One moment,he was part of a three-man rescue army in front of a mansion. The next thing he remembered was a blinding blue light in his face and now he was in another place.
"What the hell just happened?" He raised his eyebrows as he surveyed his location. He was currently in a big hall. The hall was quite furnished. There was a chandelier above him. A huge dining table by his left and a huge settee by his right. In front of him was a large balcony overlooking the city. He didn't get the chance to survey further as he heard laughter behind him. A laughter he had heard several times. One he was familiar with.
"Luke." He spat as he turned around. The culprit was seated in a large golden armchair which was set like a throne. Daniel's expression shifted to surprise as he caught sight of Shiela standing beside Luke. He was quite sure he had never seen her before. Shiela, however, gave him a blank stare in return.
"Welcome,Boy." Luke applauded as he stood up from the arm chair. He grinned viciously as he began to walk towards Daniel. Daniel reached behind for his crossbow only to discover to his horror that it was gone. This was not good.
" You don't know how long I've waited for this moment." Luke continued as he stopped a few feet away from Daniel.
"But something is different about you." Luke put a finger to his chin in mock thought. "Have you been excercising?"
Daniel caught sight of a disturbing smile on Shiela's face. It disappeared seconds later, making him confused.
"I don't think that is important, though." Luke shrugged. " You came as expected...Even though you broke your word."
" What are you talking about?" Daniel narrowed his eyes.
"Don't play smart with me,boy." Luke growled as his expression suddenly darkened. "I have walked this earth for over five hundred years. You don't want to imagine how much wisdom and experience I gathered. You were told to come alone. But apparently you thought it better to do otherwise. Not that it matters though. At the end of the day,I always win."
"Not today." Daniel glared at him. Truthfully,Daniel knew without the knowledge of his comrade's whereabouts, this battle just became more difficult. But he would rather die than concede this to Luke.
"Oh?" Luke was amused. " You don't know where your friends are and you don't even know if the captives are still alive. Face it,boy. I won."
Luke smiled as he began to advance towards Daniel. Daniel tried to retreat but as he turned around,he collided with something.
"What...." Daniel cried out in shock as he couldn't see what hit him. Narrowing his eyes,he stretched his hands forward and they came in contact with a solid unseen object. It felt like some sort of concrete wall. He turned around to catch an amused smile on Luke's face.
"Boundary magic.Courtesy of my witch over there." Luke tilted his head towards Shiela's direction. Daniel's eyes went wide as he caught the devious smile on Shiela's face.
"Do you now understand,Boy?" Luke glanced at him. " There is no escape. Its just you...and me."
