Pain. That's the first word that registered in my mind. Aching white hot pain in my torso. A moan escaped my lips. My head was clouded and fuzzy. I couldn't think straight. Something was keeping my body in place, but even if it weren't i don't think i would be able to move anyways. A cry escaped my lips as the pain spread in my ribs.
I heard what sounded like a voice, but i couldn't be sure, it was clouded almost as if i were hearing someones voice from under water. I made sense of the words though somehow they asked, "Is she waking up?"
The voice was unfamiliar and male which scared me, but there were so many drugs in my system that my body stayed calm and dull.
I groaned as footsteps made their way over to me, "Hey Emily," Someone called out.
My eyes tried to remain close, but i forced them open, moaning as i did so. My heart stopped beating for a second as i did though. Because when i opened my eyes everything was is these millions of boxes spaced across my view, doubled, trippled, a million times over across my view. I blinked and blinked until they were back to normal, but as i did so it seemed to take years for my vision to return back, though the person in front of me remained patient.
When everything came back into focus the person spoke again, "How are you feeling Emily?"
My mouth was dry and numb, my words came out slurred and raspy, "W-what's g-going on?" I was surprised he could even understand me.
"Oh yeah, she's really out of it." The person in front of me replied to another person in the room whom i couldn't make out, peering closer to the man in front of me though, it was a middle aged Asian man, wearing a long white coat; a doctor.
Turning back to me the doctor said gently, "Okay Emily, i'm just going to move you to another room, your family is in there okay?"
"what?" I replied stupidly, my mind fuzzy and everything seeming like a dream.
He just simply gave me a smile and left my vision, but the bed i was laying on was suddenly moving. I assumed he was pushing it from behind. I groaned as the sudden movement made me nauseous and everything became a blur.
I tried to turn and stuff my face into my pillow, but something kept me from doing so, glancing over it was the restraint from earlier. While i glanced down at my arm, i noticed an IV there, a nurse was by us carting the machine along. I whimpered at the sight of the needle but there was nothing i could do.
A soft whimper escaped my lips as i squeezed my eyes shut and tried to block everything else out.
It was quite embarrassing really, being rolled threw the hospital, strapped down to some bed, covered in only a thin hospital gown and a white thin sheet. My head pounding and having no control over where i was going or what was to happen to me.
At few minutes later i was carted into a room, the bed being moved against the wall. I heard a few gasps and sighs of relief.
But i kept my eyes firmly shut.
"Is she awake?" I heard a familiar voice asked.
"Yes, her eyes are just shut." The Asian doctor from earlier replied then continued, "She should really get some more sleep though, so press the button when you're ready for more pain medication."
"Thank you." Someone replied.
Then there were footsteps and the shutting off the door.
"Emily?" Someone asked, pushing strands of my hair back from my face.
I groaned and managed to open my heavy eyelids. A face came into view, it was slightly blurry at first, but came into focus.
"Lou?" I croaked out.
