"Y/N! Y/N!" I was startled awake at the yelling coming from my door. It sounded like Jason so I got up out of my bed and opened the door. "Why aren't you ready?" He said out of breath.
"For what?" Then it hits me. Training. "Oh shoot. I forgot."
"Yeah, you did. Alfred's pissed. Hurry up and put this on." Jason handed me some clothes.
"Thanks," I say to him and take the clothes. He still stands there looking at me. "Wanna turn around?" I ask him. He smirks and turns around dramatically. I start changing and it was black everything. Very comfortable too. Perfect for training. "Okay let's go," I say to Jason. He turns around and looks at me. His eyes widen and he smiles."Got something to say?"
"Yeah, you look great." He replies and I snap my fingers.
"My eyes are up here Jason."
"Yeah, yeah come on let's go." We both walk out of the door to my room and back down to the Batcave which was set up as a nice training area with a mat and plenty of weapons.
"You're late," Bruce says as he steps out of the shadows.
"Yeah, Sleeping Beauty over here forgot," Jason says while inspecting the weapons.
"Okay, okay I did but.....yeah I got nothing," I said. To my surprise, Bruce chuckled.
"It's alright yesterday was a lot to take in. But the good thing is that you're here now because we have work to do." Bruce motions me to an arrangement of guns. I walk over. "Do you know how to use one?" I pick up a gun and go in front of the metal dummies and fire. Every single bullet goes straight through the head. After I fire my last shot there was nothing but silence. Then there was slow clapping.
"Fascinating," Bruce says.
"How the hell do you know how to do that?" Jason said coming up to me.
"Luck," I responded.
"No way you did that on luck," Jason says eyeing me suspiciously. "If we're on the same team maybe you should open up more." I groan.
"There was a place I went to after the accident in the last home I was in. They taught me many things. Including how to defend myself. And that's all your getting." I respond annoyed. Then again a perfect example of the past should stay in the past.
"Want to point me in the direction of this place?"
"They wouldn't accept you."
"Ouch," Jason said. "What else can you do?" I walk up to Jason take his arm and flip him over so he lands on his back. "Argh." Jason grunts while clutching his head. I chuckle.
"Sorry," I said and held out my hand to pull him up. He accepts it and I look over at Bruce who's been quiet this whole time. "What?" I ask him.
"I think you need to train separately from Jason. Your skills are already fighting worthy but something else about you isn't," when Bruce says that I know automatically what he is talking about. What I can do.
"They're dangerous. You couldn't train it if you tried." I say.
"I think we'll be fine. Please show us what you can do." Bruce says and I stand there very still. "Y/n the only way we can be a team is if we trust each other." I nod resolutely and hold out my hand and light surrounds it. Glowing brighter and brighter.
"I can't explain it but it's like everything that reflects light or has it I can make into certain things. Bright blasts, fire, invisibility, and flight are all possible. But, I can never accomplish that. Because if I get too hot or my light gets too bright. BOOM. A supernova. Just like that." And I snap my fingers. "At least that's what I think. The only thing I've accomplished so far is cute light tricks. I've let my training handle tougher situations." I let the light in my hand die out. "So there is no point in training me for something that is born to be free and untamed."
"Maybe you don't have to tame it. Maybe that's the problem. You should accept that it's a part of you and it's not something you need to control but learn to live with." Jason says and I look at him surprisingly.
"Maybe, Mr. Todd. Astute observation." I smile at him. I think I underestimated how smart he can be. I look at Bruce. "I think I have an idea," I say to him. He looks at me in surprise and I continue. "I could teach Jason how to fight and he could teach me how to control this." I gesture at my hands.
"Me? Train you? I don't have powers." Jason says in shock.
"No. No, you don't but, you do have the mindset of someone who could teach me. I mean you had the great idea of learning to live with it. Who knows what else could be in that head of yours. Plus, I think you could understand emotions much more than I can. Like opening up and everything like that."
"You're crazy you know that?"
"So are you." Jayson smiles and chuckles.
"Alright, I'm in. Nothing to lose anyway." We both look at Bruce to see if he is okay with it and he nods.
"Alright then. We start with Jason."
So we both step on the mat and our lessons together begin. He is not that bad.
This is gonna be fun.
