Cheering Up Tommy

Tommy came home from school looking more defeated than usual. He was always a happy kid and never seemed to be too phased when something bad would happen. Typically after arriving home he would greet his brothers and head up to his room, but today he walked straight past the two boys sitting on the couch, not even acknowledging that they were there. Wilbur looked at Techno concerned. Techno looked back at him as to assure him that Tommy would be fine.
Little did the boys know that Tommy was being picked on at school. The kids in his grade had been calling him names and teasing him after finding out that he was adopted. Tommy couldn't understand why they would treat him like this just because he was an orphan. He grabbed his favorite plushy, a horse that he had named Henry, and sat in the corner, finally letting his guard down enough to begin to cry.
Techno had left Wilbur at the couch to go begin his homework; however, as he walked past Tommy's room he heard soft hiccups coming from inside. Is Tommy crying? He thought to himself. Slowly he approached the door and softly knocked, "Tommy?" he called out. When he didn't hear a reply he opened the door, now worried that something was legitimately wrong. As he stepped into the room he saw Tommy curled up in a ball in the corner of his room clutching his horse. "Tommy what's up buddy" Techno said in as calm of a tone as possible. "Nothing." Tommy replied, obviously unwilling to talk at the time. "Tom, how about you come here and give me a hug and then we can talk?" Tommy nodded and walked up to techno, who knelt down in order to pick Tommy up. Still holding Tommy tightly in his arms, Techno sat down on Tommy's bed. He slowly rubbed Tommy's back to ease the child. A few minutes later he heard Wilbur coming up the stairs. Will took one look at Tommy wrapped in Techno's arms and took a seat next to the boys, also rubbing Tommy's back.
Finally when Tommy calmed down, Will was the first to speak. "What's up Tommy?" Tommy explained that the kids in his school told him that Phil, Techno and Will didn't really want him and that they only took him out of pity. Techno and Will exchanged a glance before assuring Tommy that it wasn't true. "Hey Tommy," Wilbur spoke "How about tonight, us three hang out and we can watch a movie and get some ice cream?" Tommy's eyes lit up and he agreed and left to the bathroom to get changed. Will looked at Techno, "He's gonna be okay right?" He asked. "Yeah buddy, he's gonna be just fine." They then headed downstairs to set up and stayed up until 9 when Tommy fell asleep, cuddled into Will's shoulder.
