"This is a bad idea, daddy," Kate warned again for the fifth time already.

"Scott barely has his learner's." She argues.

When we were about to leave Mr. Fuller wanted Scott to drive, he thought it was best since his head still hurt from the beating Kyle gave him. Scott was pumped that he was getting to drive but Kate differed.

I sat in the back of the R.V. Mr. Fuller suggested for me to lay down on the couch and rest when I told them how I've been walking for the entire day to get to Mexico.

The Fullers wanted to know why I was even walking in the first place and wanted to know where my parents were, but they stopped prying when they noticed how it made me tense up.

I don't want them to know that I ran away from my foster home in case they decide to call CPS and potentially get sent back to Ms. Copper's home. I would rather get run over than go back.

I try to ignore the conversation Kate is having with her dad about leaving the congregation and losing his faith in God. But when Mr. Fuller started talking about the loss of their mom, it felt wrong of me to hear since it is a personal family matter.

I quietly reach for my backpack to get my earphones out and put them on. I unplug my phone that was charging and play some music. Then, I felt the R.V. swerve and hear Mr. Fuller tell Scott to watch where he's driving. I shake my head, giggling softly.

I was almost about to fall asleep when I heard a loud bust and felt the R.V. no longer moving.

"That — that — wasn't me." Scott declares. Looking at his dad and Kate.

"What happened?" I ask, taking off my earphones and fixing my short hair.

Scott pulls over to the side of the road, turning off the R.V. I could see smoke coming out of the hood of the car.

"That does not look good," I comment, gesturing to the smoke.

"Alright, let's take a look." Mr. Fuller sighs.

All four of us hop out, Mr. Fuller making quick work to open the hood while the rest of us stand back.

"This sucks." Scott groans, "Right when I start driving."

"Totally." I agree.

"Hey!" Scott frowns at my agreement, almost pouting.

I giggle at his cuteness, placing my hand on his shoulder and giving it a gentle squeeze.

"I meant you're a good driver. The R.V. sucks."

Scott gently laughed, smiling at me and I smile right back. I was surprised when I saw his eyes move down to my lips.

I was so distracted by him that, I didn't even hear Mr. Fuller ask what Kate was doing.
