Meredith gasps as Amelia rolls her in the room to we Cormac. Amelia rolls her over to the bed and then walks back to the door. "Be gentle!" Amelia says. Meredith nods as she couldn't speak.

Meredith places her hand on Cormac's chest gently letting it rise with his breath's from the vent he was on. Tears fill her eyes, she can feel herself growing sicker. "I know you can't hear me. Cormac I really like you. I hope you get better." Meredith grabs a piece of paper and a pen that was sitting on a desk next to Cormac's bed. She writes him a note then stands up and kisses his forehead.

"I need a gurney now!" Amelia yells from the nurses station. Teddy runs over with a gurney "what the hell happened?" She asks. Amelia looks at her "she wanted to say goodbye to cormac so I brought her here and she collapsed on top of him. It was a surge, she said it was, she was right. Teddy she's dying." Amelia says. Teddy shakes her head in disbelief.

"Bailey she keeps declining. She's not on a vent but she's not conscious..." Teddy says standing in Bailey's office. "I think it's lack of energy, she doesn't eat real good we are feeding her through a tube... she hasn't been moving... walking... with her kids... her body needs time." Owen cuts in. Bailey is looking at them both processing the information they are giving her. Bailey looks down at her hands as she fiddles with her fingers. "So what are you saying?" Bailey questions. "I'm saying I think she needs to stay on lockdown." Teddy says. Lockdown was a new thing the hospital had started when the virus got really bad. It means the patient cannot leave the room unless there is an emergency or they are pushed in a wheelchair one-hundred percent of the time. Bailey nods "lockdown. Meredith Grey on lockdown. Are you nuts? Meredith Grey wouldn't last two damn minutes on lockdown." Bailey says. Teddy and Owen smile knowing she is right "we know...that's why we think there should be a person outside her door at all times." Owen offers. "Who? We are understaffed, people are dying left and right. Who am I going to put outside Meredith greys door as a damn watch dog?" Bailey was getting aggravated Teddy and Owen could hear it in her voice. "Leah Murphy. She has no privileges she just sits there and has already said she would do it if you would let her." Teddy says. Bailey looks at her like she was dumb. "L-l-Leah Murphy? Like the one we hired twice" Bailey says holding up two fingers "for her to leave both times! Do you have covid? You've lost your mind." Bailey replies pacing around the room now.

"Leah your job is to sit here. Do not move. Do not let her out. If she get violent page me. If she wakes up page me. If she is slamming on the door page me. Page me Leah. You are not to step away from this door I don't care if you have to pee or if your bleed. The only time you walk away is if I am here. Am I understood?" Owen sates very clearly. Leah nods "if you aren't answering?" She asks with an attitude. Owen steps back crossing his arms. "Page Teddy. If she doesn't answer page Richard or Bailey. Got it?" Owen answers. She nods. "Be a freaking statue. Got it." She replies. Owen walks away shaking his head.

*four days have passed*

Cormac grabs at his neck. "You're going to be sore for a while... you were intubated for about four days. You had a subdural hematoma, you were in critical condition. Doctor DeLuca has been in jail for the last couple of days you were here. If you press charges it will attempted murder. Is there anything else you need?" Maggie asks Cormac. Cormac looks at her obviously sore. He raises his hand moving it in a writing motion. Maggie have her a pad of paper and pen.

Hurts to talk. Where's Mer?

"It will for a little while, hot tea may help if you want some I can get that. Mer is.. is in her room still. I'll ask if you can visit if you want." Maggie answers his writing.

"Yes. I want to see her. Can I please have a drink."

"Okay... let me go check. I'll be right back." Maggie says touching Cormac's arm in a friendly manner then walks out. Cormac turns on his side facing the door. He's looking around the room to see where he was exactly when he saw a piece of paper with a pen on top. Maggie walks back in with a cup of tea. "Here... Amelia says she wants you to wait a little bit before you go see Mer okay?" Cormac nod's and points to the paper that he couldn't reach. Maggie walks over picking it up and handing it to him.

Dear Cormac,
I'm sick and I don't think I'm going to get any better. I'm sorry I put you through all of this again, I know it killed you when you watched Abby die. Don't check on me, it will just make it worse. Thank you for everything. Thank you for the whiskey in your office, thank you for the conversation, thank you for being here for me. I really like you and want to get to know you better. Tell my kids I love them and bring them to say good bye sooner than later. I'm trying to stay... trying to fight but each time I close my eyes I see Derek... he loves me so much. He told me it was okay to move on and that he was waiting for me. I'm sorry Andrew hurt you, you should press charges he's gotten in fights before. Cormac don't wait for me... I know we haven't been talking that long but I'm pretty sure you like me. Don't wait for me... go be happy be there for the boys and for gabby. Don't let her die. I came to see you... I gave you a kiss. Thank you Hayes.
-Grey

Tears roll down Cormac's face as he reads Meredith's letter. It hurt him to hear that she thought she was dying. He knew it was probably going to happen but didn't want to think about it. He wanted to be with her. He liked her and didn't want to be with anyone else but Meredith. Abby would always be his one love but Meredith was a very close second. Cormac wants to run into her room and just hold her.

FLASHBACK Cormac's pov {•}•{•}•{•}
Meredith was walking past my office and didn't look happy I stood up from my desk walking to the front of it leaning on the edge of the desk. "Grey!" I called catching her attention. Her hair was down and mostly straight she had two pieces in the front that had a small curve from tucking it behind her ear. She turns her head fast making her hair flow in the wind of her turn. I instantly got butterflies in my stomach. I look down and the ground as she walks into my office "what?" She asks with a snappy attitude. It was the cutest attitude I ever heard but it was rude. I raise and eyebrow at her and she sighs. "I'm sorry. What's up?" She says softer. "I should be asking you the same." I say pushing my self off my desk walking closer to her. She shook her head "whys that?" She questions me. I look her in her eyes. "Grey... it's okay to have a bad day. It's okay to ask for help... for a shoulder to lean on... or even just a hug." I say. She looks me back in the eyes then let's her head drop down. I place my hand under her chin picking her head up softly "hey, what's wrong?" I ask soft and caring. She looks at me making a sad face. "It's just been a shit day. I woke up shitty and ever since it's-" she sighs as tears start to roll down her cheeks. I wipe one away with my thumb.

I hate when she gets sad or upset so I purposely try to make her laugh. "You're eyes are very green. The greenest thing I've ever seen." I say pulling my hand away from her face. She smiles just a little bit and hits my arm playfully "that doesn't help with my day." She says. I smile "but you're smiling..." I reply. She rolls her eyes. "I am... that's true. I need to get back to my shitty day." She says. I smile "okay." I say almost so soft it was a whisper. She doesn't move. "You uh... you gonna.." I say teasing her "no. I'm going to stay here looking at you incredibly blue eyes because I feel safe. I-I-I'm sorry." Meredith replies I place my hands in her hips and pulls her closer to me. She wraps her arms around me placing her head on my chest. She starts to cry. "Shh. Shh. You're okay. You're okay I got you." I whisper rocking the both of us back and forth. "I'm sorry." Meredith says still crying I pull away from the hug a little so i can see her face. "No don't be sorry. You're okay. Cry... get it all out. I have you. I'm not letting go until your ready." I say to her. She nods then lays her head back in my chest. I gently rest my chin on the top of her head. "You feel safe... when we are like this... it feels like nothing bad can ever happen." Meredith says. I smile at her comment because it was adorable. "Then come ask for a hug any time grey. I'm here." I reply. She pulls back away from me so she is looking at me again. "You can call me Meredith." She says I smile and nod "grey is cute." I say.

Meredith and I walk over to the couch that's on the other side of my office. We sit down Meredith snuggles up next to me my arm wrapped around her back. She sits up to look at me flipping her hair as it falls in her face. I gently tuck it behind her ear. "I wanna kiss you." She says. I look her in the eye placing my hand in her hair. "That Doctor Grey, would be considered inappropriate..." I say she giggles. "Mhm but I own the hospital... I make the rules... I can break them too."
(End flashback)

Holding Meredith made him feel safe too.
