Mystery of magic

An enchanted forest

It looked different on the inside, darker.

"Where am I? what is this place?" Shannon asked.

"It's the forbidden forest" Gryphus said really fast.

"Forbidden?" Shannon asked.

"I am not supposed to be here and neither are you, if someone sees us I am going to be in trouble and you are going to have your memory erased" Gryphus said.

"What is going on?" Shannon asked.

"magic, it's magic OK, I am a wizard and this forest is full of magical creatures, like Jackalope and the Manticore you saw" Gryphus said.

"What? magic? wizards?" Shannon began to barely form the questions on her head before the lion looking creature came for them.

"Is that?" Shannon began.

"The Manticore? yes, flippendo" said Gryphus as he pointed a wand to the creature, a swilft light came out of it hitting the creature and leaving it weakened.

"That won't hold it out for long you need to get out of here, and please don't tell anyone what happened I'll explain later.

But the creature still caught her with it's claws, Gryphus took a few blasts at it, they didn't appear to work. Shannon was terrified. Her curiosity had gotten the best of her yet again and she was actually going to die this time.

"Desmaius" cried Gryphus in one last attempt and it did put the manticore to sleep. Shannon broke free and ran towards Gryphus who tended to her with with some strange potion and a cataplasm on her arm were there were wounds from the attack.

"I deal with magical creatures often so I come prepared, but that was scary" Gryphus said.

Shannon began to calm down, everything hurt less and she could see her surroundings better.

"This place is beautiful" She said.

"You can see some fairies flying around, and Dircawls appearing and disappearing, I think you call them Dodo birds" Gryphus said.

"Those birds are supposed to be extinct" Shannon said.

"That's what you think" Gryphus said.

"So your school?" Shannon asked.

"Is a magic school, not far away from here, and your neighbor, Harry Potter goes there too, he is like me, a wizard" Gryphus said.

"My school will be looking for me soon, I should go, but next summer I would like to talk about this" Shannon said.

"Please not a word to anyone, if someone finds out I told you, I will be in BIG trouble" Gryphus said.

"Lips sealed" Shannon said.

As much as she would like to blab to her friends that shwe was kinda right all along just that there weren't aliens but wizards, the encounter with the manticore showed her the dangers of what she got herself into. She left the forest towards the road, where she found her class and her friends.

"What happened? did you find a spaceship?" Alfie said.

"No, just a bunch of branches and rocks, I got some scratches" Shannon said, trying to give an explanation to the injuries that were still visible, Gryohus remedies had made them look more normal than they actually were.

"So, no answers to your mysteries on Potter?" Maddie said.

"no, none at all, it was a loose end" Shannon said.

"are you ok? the Shannon I know doesn't give up so easly" Maddie said.

"I just gave up for now" Shannon said.

"For now? you think we won't find anything else here?" Alfie said.

"I already looked in the most promising place" Shannon said.

It was hard for Shannon to lie to her friends, but she knew she had to do it for her sake and Gryphus's sake. She finally had some answers, but she couldn't say anything, and she didn't have the full set of answers either. She had seen impossible things that day, magical creatures.

Gryphus hoped she wouldn't talk, he knew she had been called crazy for blabbing about magical happenings in the past, and she had now been faced with crazier things, could she be able to keep herself quiet?

"Hey big bro, you missed the game, the Dementors attacked Potter" Rolf said.

"When doesn't something attack him?" Gryphus said.

"Where were you?" Rolph asked.

"In the forest" Gryphus replied.

"And what happened to your arm?" Rolf asked again.

"A manticore" Gryphus answered.

"how did youmanage to get involved with one?"

"There was a Jackalope that followed me and the manticore followed it" Gryphus said.

"But you could have left them there and ran, something else happened" Rolf asked.

"It did, but I better not talk about it here" Gryphus said.

So they went to the Hufflepuff dorms

"ok, spill" Rolf said.

"I wasn't alone out there, Shannon was there" Gryphus finally confessed, he couldn't lie to his brother.

"What? but she is a muggle" Rolf replied.

"I know, it is kinda my fault, she was on the edge on the muggle side, she wouldn't have seen anything if I hadn't come out and the jackalope hadn't followed me" Gryphus said.

"You not only went to the forbidden forest, but you went outside of the premises and brought a muggle inside? and i supposed you told her the truth?" Rolf said.

"What was I supposed to do, we were being chased, she got attacked, I had to save her and heal her" Gryphus rambled.

"Oh brother, this summer is going to be fun" Rolf said.
