Why Should I Trust You Mastermind Byakuya X Makoto

Protect the child

(Byakuya's POV) 

"Sort of. You guys were not the ones who caused the events but you did play a big role in this." Byakuma

Naegi and the others were looking confused.

"As you guys had already figured out, exactly 2 years of your school memories have been erased." Byakuma

"During that time you all made wonderful, "Happy" school memories. Towards the end of your second year the biggest, most awful, most tragic event in all of human history." Byakuma

"But what happened? That's for you guys to figure out." Byakuma

"Come on! Can't you just tell us!?" Aoi

"Phuhuhu but then that would be no fun." Byakuma

I could see the gears turning in Kirigiri's head.

"....Maybe......did you cause the event?" Kyoko

"Only partially right Kirigiri." Byakuma

"Of course you would have had something to do with this." Aoi

"Well I only planted the seed, it was the rest of the world that let it grow." Byakuma

I showed images on the screen. Most of them were pictures of the outside world, one of them was a class photo of all of us. 

"Um who are they?" Makoto

I looked and saw Naegi pointing at another class photo.

"Those," Byakuma

I made that photo the only photo on the screen.

"Are the people who caused the biggest, most awful, most tragic event in all of human history." Byakuma

(Lol I'm writing that so often that I have a keyboard shortcut for the biggest, most awful, most tragic event in all of human history)

"But they look so.......normal." Yasuhiro

"Well it took some convincing." Byakuma

I circled the picture of one of the girls on the screen.

"It was quite easy actually. See we just brutally killed off their classmate Chiaki in front of them." Byakuma

".....You just killed an innocent person?" Makoto

"Death is one of the easiest ways for people to fall into despair." Byakuma

Naegi looked sad. Why did I suddenly feel a little bit guilty?

"Anyways, thanks to that class we started riots throughout the world." Byakuma

"Where are they now?" Aoi

"Just roaming around causing so much chaos and despair." Byakuma

"But then do any of you know why you're locked up in this school?" Byakuma

"M-Makoto already told us this." Toko

"He may have told you about the video, but what does that video mean??" Byakuma

"....was it to protect us from the riots?" Kyoko

"Good job Ultimate detective." Byakuma

(I can't remember if they had found them but Kyoko didn't find her dad yet)

"Tell me this then.....where is my father?" Kyoko

"Phuhuhu, huhuhuhu." Byakuma

I had forgotten that Kirigiri wasn't there for her fathers execution.

"What's so funny?" Kyoko

"Huhuhu your father is just a pile of bones now Kirigiri." Byakuma

Kirigiri seemed shocked for a minute.

"I-I was afraid that would be the case." Kyoko

"Wait but w-what did she mean before, we were locked in here to protect us from the riots?" Yasuhiro

"Exactly what she said. The 15 of us were locked up in this school to protect us from the outside world." Byakuma

"You all agreed to this." Byakuma

I started to play the videos of all of them agreeing to stay in the school. 

"N-no we wouldn't have." Yasuhiro

"I know its hard to believe but you should have known since Makoto told you this." Kyoko

"But I didn't really believe it!!" Yasuhiro

"Of course you would have, it was the only way to protect yourselves." Byakuma

Everyone seemed speechless not knowing what to say. I could feel them all sinking into despair. 

"What do you think, Makoto Naegi? Any bright ideas or speeches on hope?" Byakuma

"Hey don't talk to him." Aoi

"Y-yeah leave him alone." Toko

They all formed a crowd around him. I was surprised about how protective they were being. 

"Why? Now would be a great time for the Ultimate Hope to make a great speech about 'hope' and 'friendship'" Byakuma

"Shut up man." Yasuhiro

Naegi was looking down at his feet. For some reason I wanted Naegi to speak, I wanted him to tell me 'no that's wrong', I wanted him to give a rallying speech about hope triumphing over despair. But he said nothing. For some reason this made me angry.

"Well all of you are stuck in here unless one of you really wants to leave and kills another." Byakuma

"There's no way we're killing again. We will find a way out" Kyoko

"Phuhuhu we'll see." Byakuma

With that I pressed a button and Monokuma left.

Nooooo guys I had italic to all the thoughts and bold for the names but I just realized the Google doc didn't carry over to wattpad. I had to manually do all of that for this chapter. I might not be able to continue doing that (edit: that's what the majority of my editing it doing. Fixing this)
