They drove the rest of the way in a different car, a bigger car than the one they were in before. They drove the two miles and then they stopped, right at the top of the hill. Everyone got out of the car and was met by another group. The right arm. Newt helped Harper walk over from the car to meet the others, she couldn't keep her eyes open. The blood on the bandages was now a thick black tar like substance. She had no idea how many people were in front of her, she kept falling in and out of consciousness but no one seemed to  notice.
"We have some new members to add to our crew." Sonya said.
"Have you checked them?" An older man asked.
"Well.. no." Harriet said.
"You are supposed to check everyone and anyone that comes near, that's how we're surviving. We can't just let anyone come through. If they give us the flare then we have no chance." He said.
"Yeah, yeah. We get it." Harriet said.
"We were just happy to see a familiar face." Sonya said.

All of a sudden, Brenda fell to the floor and began to shake uncontrollably. The older man and another woman knelt down next to her, along with Jorge and Thomas. Blood had soaked through onto her trouser leg. The man pulled the fabric up to reveal a bandage, he moved the bandage and revealed the birth mark. He stood up quickly and pulled a pistol from his waist band, he pointed it at Brenda's head and pulled back the hammer.
"No!" Thomas yelled.
"Stop!"Jorge screamed.
"She's infected. We have to kill her." The man said.
"Vince." A woman said. "You know that we can help her, or at least stall the process." Her voice was kind and loving, like a mothers would be.
"But we can't just-" he started.
"Put her in a tent please." The woman said to two men walking past.
"Harper?" Newt asked.
She had fallen completely limp into his body.
"Harper?" The woman whispered to herself.
"I think she needs help." Thomas said.
"Like, right now."

Harper woke up in a tent, it wasn't cold but she wasn't exactly warm either. Her eyes desperately scanned the room. He was sat on a chair across the room, his eyes were closed but he wasn't quite asleep, he was on his way though. She couldn't move her body, she had been tied to the bed with some sort of wire. A tear fell down her cheek.
"Baby?" She asked.
Newt's eyes immediately opened and he was by her side in a second, kneeling on the floor next to her bed. "Are you OK? What do you need?"
"I'm ok, now that.. you're with me."
"Darling, what happened? What is going on with you?"
Another tear fell from her eye. "I.. I don't know. What did they do to me, why.. can't I.. move?" She shook her hands but could only move them so much.
"You were.. getting aggressive whilst they were stitching you up. Your body was floating in the air, they had to give you some sort of shot."
"Can I.. get up?"
"Yeah."

Newt untied the restraints from around her wrists and ankles. She stood up from the bed and hugged him. She cried slightly into his shoulder until her pulled away and gently kissed her. They walked out of the tent, hand in hand.
"Can.. you give me.. a second, please?" She asked.
"Are you OK?"
"Yeah.. I just.. want to see.. Someone."
"OK, well, I'll be out here."

Harper kissed Newt on the cheek and then walked over to one of the tents. She was following the smell, the smell of disease. Her walking hadn't improved much but she did her best to walk in a straight line. Harper was much more resistant to pain, because she had the power to heal people, she had to have some reassurance that when she took so much pain, it wouldn't kill her.

She got to the tent and exhaled deeply before stepping inside. She saw Brenda sat on the bed staring at her injured leg. This was the only time since they'd been there that Brenda was alone so Harper had come at the perfect time. She sat down on the floor next to the bed and Brenda looked at her.
"When.. were you bitten?" Harper asked.
"Yesterday, when I was with Thomas."
"Only a day. Ok." She said quietly to herself. "I can help you."
"Ah, yes, Thomas did mention something about your.. powers. He also said he'd show me something about you but I assume he hasn't seen you yet."
"What did.. he want to.. show you?"
"Your back. He said that you would be healed from the nails."
"I.. did."
"Show me."
